Job Description
Job Description:
The Bankruptcy Mail Processing team member is responsible for the timely intake, review, categorization, routing, tracking, and retention of bankruptcy-related correspondence received through multiple channels, including BNC, MIPS, RPS Bankruptcy Shared, and RPS Bankruptcy Mail Processing Shared mailboxes. This role ensures accurate handling of bankruptcy documents by monitoring daily work queues, completing required reporting, assigning and tracking tasks, routing documents to the appropriate teams or specialty contacts, and maintaining proper documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
The specialist is accountable for meeting service level expectations, managing due dates, accurately categorizing mail types, maintaining folder retention standards, and handling specialized requests such as claims, statement requests, refund inquiries, subpoenas, adversary proceedings, and other exception-based items.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, regulatory awareness, and the ability to proactively manage workloads, escalate urgent matters, and ensure operational consistency, compliance, and accountability across bankruptcy servicing processes. Strong attention to detail, excellent Microsoft suite skills, ability to complete complex tasks with minimal oversight and critical thinking skills.
Role Responsibilities:
This process outlines how bankruptcy-related mail is received, assigned, reviewed, routed, tracked, and saved across key intake channels, including BNC, MIPS, RPS Bankruptcy Shared, and RPS Bankruptcy Mail Processing Shared. The overall objective is to ensure bankruptcy documents are reviewed timely, categorized accurately, routed to the appropriate teams or specialty contacts, and retained in the correct folders for auditability and reference.
This process relies on consistent daily discipline: opening the required systems at the beginning of the day, running and saving BOD/EOD and MIPS reporting, monitoring task acceptance and completion, and using the mail assignment tracker to confirm ownership and progress. Team members should understand routing expectations, document-saving requirements, due dates, and escalation paths for urgent or specialized mail.
Key control points include timely acceptance of assigned task requests, accurate categorization of mail types, proper date stamping and folder retention, even distribution of NOC work, and correct routing of specialty items such as PBK documents, claims, statement requests, refund-related matters, subpoenas, adversary matters, and other exception-based requests. The process also reinforces the importance of required customer information handling language and ensuring urgent shared mailbox items are worked outside normal guidelines when directed.
Overall, this process supports operational consistency, compliance, timely bankruptcy mail handling, and clear accountability across the team. Oversight should focus on adherence to daily reporting routines, accurate routing, timely completion, proper documentation, and proactive follow-up on exceptions or aging items.
