About the Role: Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems using Python and FastAPI.

Drive architecture decisions, mentor teams, and build resilient distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and own scalable, resilient backend architectures for distributed systems

• Define service boundaries, data ownership, and communication patterns (REST, async, event-driven)

• Build and maintain high-performance backend services using Python and FastAPI

• Lead architectural decisions across microservices, modular monoliths, and event-driven systems

• Optimize data models, database performance, and storage strategies (SQL & NoSQL)

• Ensure system reliability with proper handling of failures, retries, and scalability patterns

• Drive code quality through best practices, design patterns, and code reviews

• Collaborate with DevOps on cloud deployments, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability

• Mentor engineers and act as technical owner for backend systems

Technical Skills:

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and FastAPI

• Strong experience in backend architecture and system design

• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture

• Expertise in RDBMS (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and at least one NoSQL database

• Experience with asynchronous programming, concurrency, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)

• Strong understanding of API design, event-driven systems, and data consistency models

• Hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines

• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts, monitoring, logging, and observability tools

• Knowledge of secure backend practices (OAuth2, JWT, encryption, API security)

Required Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 10+ years of backend/software engineering experience

• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with FastAPI in production environments

• Proven experience designing and scaling large, distributed backend systems

• Strong expertise in system design, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions and mentor engineering teams

Nice To Have:

• Experience in monolith to microservices migrations

• Exposure to event-driven or streaming systems

• Experience with API gateways, rate limiting, and auth systems

• Prior experience as Tech Lead / Senior Backend Engineer / Solution Architect
