Role Title: VP, Quality Engineering (QE) Leader – Vendor Oversight (L12)

Organizational Overview

The Quality Engineering Center of Excellence is a Team of QE Leaders and Subject Matter Experts who are responsible for establishing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards across all stages of software development lifecycle. This Team reports into the Engineering Organization which is comprised of Engineering Verticals which are responsible for delivery of application releases. This team collaborates with cross functional teams to integrate quality processes into all stages of the software development life cycle. This team also provides the oversight on governance for Syf Testing Standards and ensures that issues that are raised by the internal Audit teams are addressed in a timely manner.

Role Summary/Purpose

This Role will be a Leadership role in the Quality Engineering Center of Excellence and would play a pivotal role in ensuring that the SYF Testing Standards are being adhered to by the Supplier QE Teams , to deliver high quality products in a timely manner to improve customer journeys at an optimal cost. The individual will have a Team of Test Architects and collaborate with the other QE Leaders in the COE, along with cross functional teams such as Engineering, Office of Agile, and Application Security among others. This position would require expertise in maintaining quality standards, processes and continuous oversight in ensuring the Testing standards are adhered to. This role will report into the Leader of the QE COE and will help provide the required governance from a Vendor Alignment and oversight standpoint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective oversight and collaboration with the supplier teams to ensure effective deployment and adherence of Quality Standards
  • Work closely with the Supplier Leads to set expectations on adherence to Quality Standards and drive these into their Standard Operating Procedures. Ensure that these are revisited and updated when there is any relevant changes to these Standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with the QE COE Leader for the given Portfolio in ensuring the following
    • All gaps in adherence with respect to Quality Standards is addressed and closed, and surfaced in Compliance reports.
    • Test Management is the source of truth for all Manual Test Cases and also track the Automation levels in any application
    • Provide any functional trainings to the QE Engineers with respect to Usage of tools like Octane and other Automation frameworks in the context of Testing Standards through Videos loaded into Workday which can be tracked.
    • To ensure that all the QE Deliverables and Artifacts are in line with what is prescribed in the Test Standards.
  • Establish a cadence of periodic checkpoints with the Supplier Leads to make sure there is the required level of compliance.
  • Will act as a single point of contact for QE vendor related priorities aligned with the Engineering Verticals
  • Lead and manage a team of Test and Automation Architects to validate the effectiveness and Quality of the deliverables coming in from the Supplier Teams and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to course correct.
  • Utilize data driven insights to monitor quality indicators, track trends and proactively resolve any potential risks/issues.
Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of Leadership experience either in Technology or Quality Assurance
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high performing quality engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of software development, Agile and SAFe methodologies with associated tools
  • Proven experience with DEVOPS -CI/CD pipelines and tools e.g. Jenkins, Cloud bees etc.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of automation testing tools and frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong program management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet timelines.
  • Proven track record of dealing with ambiguity, translating vision to clear actions and tracking large organizational initiatives as a program to completion is a must.

Desired Skills/Knowledge

  • Working closing with vendors/Supplier Management and contingent workforce
  • Demonstrate ability to drive standards and process improvements across complex organizations and teams of varying levels of maturity
  • Proficiency in Process governance and risk compliance when it comes to Testing Standards

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of Leadership experience either in Technology or Quality Assurance

Work Timings

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
