Prepares and files taxes and ensures they are compliant with local, state, and federal tax reporting obligations. Prepares and reviews local corporate tax returns and related work papers, extensions, quarterly estimated tax calculations, annual reports, and other necessary requirements. Performs tax research and prepares technical memos to document findings related to local tax issues. Assists with internal compliance and local tax audits by gathering supporting documentation, performs tax analysis on related issues, and communicates with audit team. Supports compliance team with preparing withholding tax forms, transfer pricing forms, income tax forms, sales and use tax forms, business license filings, rolling forward tax return workpapers and prepares supporting calculations. Collaborates with other tax team members in identifying ways to optimize the tax information gathering process.

This position will be primarily focused on preparing and reviewing India, Japan and Korea corporate tax reporting (direct tax returns, tax accounting & tax assessments), transfer pricing compliances and provisioning under IGAAP/ USGAAP.

A successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills; a strong attention to detail; and the ability to employ technology tools to streamline large amounts of data for tax reporting, compliance and litigation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management and coordination with internal stakeholders and advisors for preparation and completion of annual tax compliances in India such as tax audit, transfer pricing filings and tax returns.
  • Streamline audit management – turnaround of data in response to tax notices.
  • Identify and achieve process improvement scope in audit management.
  • Identify and drive automation projects, process improvements which increase efficiency and scalability of data.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly/ quarterly tax computations for advance tax and quarterly provisioning.
  • Review of financial statements, reports and support closing of local country financial statements.
  • Support & review local country transfer pricing compliances and ensure they are completed on time.
  • Support in transfer pricing litigation and APA application.
  • Drafting of appeals with CIT(A), ITAT and representation with tax authorities.
  • Support in internal restructuring projects and experience of working on slump sale, asset sale aspects etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • CA or Masters from a recognized institute or equivalent preferred.
  • 4+ years of Indian income tax experience, specifically in public accounting or large multinational corporate tax departments.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically with managing large data sets within MS Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self-starter; must have strong desire to help improve processes for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Experience in a fast-moving multinational corporate tax department or Big4 consulting firms for 4+ years highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with accounting for income taxes under IN GAAP/US GAAP
