The Subsea Engineer – Innovation is part of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine Engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center. This role is part of a multidiscipline team of floating system engineers who provide technical services and technology development support to Chevron base businesses and projects. The mooring engineer provides technical subject matter expertise for mooring system engineering, fabrication, installation and operations across Chevron assets and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide mooring technical expert support for floating production platform projects. Manage design, delivery, and installation of entire mooring system that includes piles, chain, wire, connectors and tensioning systems. Work involves writing technical specification/guidelines, review technical documents, and provide technical solutions.
Provide mooring technical expert support for construction vessels and mobile offshore drilling units. Review and guide for sufficient mooring system integrity, proper anchor pattern and safe mooring handling to ensure safe execution of the offshore construction and drilling operation.
Provide base business support to operating assets on mooring integrity assessment and management. Understand mooring degradation mechanism, regulatory requirements and inspection technologies. Define scope and specification of inspection. Interpret the inspection results and apply the information on mooring integrity assessment.
The work may require performing hands-on engineering calculations or authoring reports and technical documents as necessary.
Lead technology development of mooring systems to reduce cost, improve performance and safety. Stay abreast of latest technologies, identify opportunities, develop proposals and managing progress.
Interfacing and collaboration with other Chevron Technical Center and Chevron Shipping functions including floating systems, marine operations, subsea structures, materials & welding, quality as well as business unit operations and projects teams.
Required Qualifications
MS in marine engineering, mechanical engineering or civil engineering from a recognized university.
Working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in offshore industry experience in the design, manufacture and installation of mooring systems for floating structures
Fluency in using mooring analysis software in design
Field experience in mooring installation or inspection
Knowledge or experience in naval architecture and marine operations
