MTS SOFTWARE SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in FPGA and CPU-based PCB design, low-level driver development, and system-level software integration, with proven experience deploying secure solutions in large-scale datacenter environments.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for FPGA and CPU-based systems used in high-performance datacenter environments.
Implement and optimize low-level drivers for custom hardware platforms, ensuring robust and efficient operation.
Integrate firmware with system-level software stacks, enabling seamless communication between hardware and higher-level applications.
Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle — from prototyping to datacenter deployment.
Develop and execute bring-up, validation, and debug procedures for new PCB-based systems.
Ensure compliance with datacenter security requirements, including secure boot, encryption, authentication, and firmware update mechanisms.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, integration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement of firmware development workflows, testing methodologies, and deployment practices.
Preferred Experience
BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
7+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development.
Proven expertise with FPGA-based and CPU-based PCB systems.
Strong proficiency in C/C++, embedded Linux, RTOS and low-level hardware programming.
Experience with device driver development (PCIe, Ethernet, I²C, SPI, DDR, etc.).
Familiarity with FPGA toolchains (Vivado,) and embedded debugging tools (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
Solid understanding of datacenter deployment requirements, including scalability, performance, and security.
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience with high-speed interconnects (PCIe Gen4/Gen5, Ethernet 100G/400G, CXL).
Knowledge of datacenter networking protocols and distributed systems.
Familiarity with DevOps practices for firmware/software deployment.
Contributions to system bring-up and validation in production datacenter environments.
Academic Credentials
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
