What youll do

As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and scale high-quality software systems that power Docusign’s core platform and integrations. You will work independently on well-defined problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver meaningful, customer-impacting solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, a sense of ownership, and a quality-first mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, take accountability for your decisions, and enjoy mentoring others while continuously raising the engineering bar.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering.

Responsibility

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure software systems
• Own medium to large features end-to-end, from technical design through production rollout
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned with engineering best practices
• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to system and architecture decisions
• Collaborate effectively with Product, SRE, CX, and cross-functional engineering teams
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotations as needed
• Conduct code reviews and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to peers
• Mentor junior engineers and help elevate overall team quality and standards
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability, and developer productivity continuously
  
  

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. Preferred job designations are not guaranteed when changing positions within Docusign. Docusign reserves the right to change a positions job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.

What you bring

Basic

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience in at least one backend language such as Java, C#, Node.js, or similar
• Experience building distributed systems, APIs, and/or microservices
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and DevOps practices
  
  

Preferred

• Experience working on large-scale SaaS/iPaaS platforms
• Knowledge of security, authentication, and authorization (OAuth, SSO, etc.)
• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and messaging systems
• Exposure to frontend technologies such as React or Angular
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and proactively
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
