Team Description

Reporting to the Director of Automation, Tooling, and Observability within Global Network Engineering & Operations (GNEO), the full stack Software Engineer for Network Automation and Tools plays a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-scale automation platforms, network tooling, and observability frameworks. This role combines deep expertise in systems reliability engineering, software engineering, DevOps, and network systems to create reusable frameworks, improve service reliability, and enable Disney’s NetDevOps transformation. The full stack Software Engineer acts as a designer, and hands-on contributor across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities Of Role

A day in the life of this Software Engineer includes the following:

  • Work alongside our first-class Global Network Engineering and Operations teams to understand current manual processes and business requirements
  • Breakdown targeted manual processes into reusable software modules that can be integrated as code
  • Integrate units of automation into Disney’s Network Automation & Orchestration platform
  • Build pipelines and unit tests to validate integrity of data used for automation
  • Implement irresistible user experiences and user interfaces for each automated workflow
  • Test end-to-end workflows to assure compliance with requirements
  • Conduct demos and training for assigned automations
  • Build workflow simulations for users to test automated workflows before deployment into the production network
  • Develop algorithms integrating machine learning and AI technologies into our orchestration platform

Systems Reliability Engineer For Networks

  • Support orchestration platforms; automate infrastructure and operations optimized for the management of reliable enterprise-wide network operations
  • Implement reusable microservices, APIs, and automation solutions integrating AI/ML technologies to manage network infrastructure
  • Implement self-healing network systems operations using automation, telemetry, and emerging technology

Software Engineering & Automation: 

  • Implement advanced automation and orchestration workflows for network services.
  • Implement APIs, and CI/CD pipelines for network management.
  • Implement technical design for an enterprise-scale network automation / AI platform that unites multiple technical domains, integrates cleanly with existing ecosystems, and distills complex capabilities into intuitive, self-service experiences accessible to both developers and non-developers.

Network Tooling & Observability Delivery

  • Implement reusable microservices, libraries, and APIs for network automation and change management.
  • Use AI/ML and predictive analytics tools for proactive issue detection.

Collaboration & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally, including network engineers, software developers, and operations leads.
  • Integrate commercial, and open-source tools as needed.

Service Reliability & Optimization

  • Conduct root cause analysis, design fault-tolerant workflows, and enable self-healing automation.

Must Haves (Years Of Experience, Languages, Programs, Tools, Etc.)

  • 3+ years of full stack software engineering experience, with strong expertise in network automation.
  • Proven hands-on experience building frontend, APIs and backend functionality; expertise with Python, Go, or Rust and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Pulumi.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms, container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker), identity/auth frameworks, data and workflow orchestration.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and data engineering concepts.
  • Strong communication, and collaboration skills; ability to collaborate globally on various time zones.

Education

  • Required: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), AWS/Azure/GCP certifications, CCNP/DevNet or NVIDIA AI engineer.
  • Experience developing low-code/no-code automation platforms or reusable developer toolkits.
  • Contributions to open-source automation, observability, or DevOps communities.
