- Lead Technical Problem-Solving: Use source code access and advanced debugging skills to resolve technically complex issues across diverse Microsoft products.
- Mentor and Educate: Grow the next generation of SWEs through one-on-one mentoring, group education sessions, and collaborative case work.
- Collaborate with Experts: Work directly with Program Managers and Developers who design and build Microsoft products.
- Drive Customer Success: Act as a trusted advisor and problem-solver for enterprise customers, ensuring reliability and performance of mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities
- Identify the root cause of incidents or service degradations through detailed investigation and data analysis.
- Develop, validate, and implement mitigation steps
- Prepare and present Incident Learning Reviews (ILRs) and postmortems summarizing the incident timeline, impact, root cause, mitigation, and long-term corrective actions.
- Identify regressions, configuration errors, or design flaws contributing to incidents and propose systemic improvements.
- File and track repair items (bugs, design changes, automation improvements) with clear quality information that meets the defined bug bar.
- Partner with Engineering (SWE) teams to ensure timely resolution and verify the effectiveness of the fixes.
- Analyze incident trends to identify recurring issues and drive proactive remediation efforts.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering on complex, code-level or architecture-level issues.
- Influence reliability and resilience improvements across products and services.
- Participate in on-call rotations, ensuring timely response and resolution for incidents within assigned service queues.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Intermediate knowledge in networking fundamentals, including knowledge of core protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and QUIC.
- Proven hands-on experience with network troubleshooting and diagnostics tools, including procmon, Wireshark for deep packet inspection and protocol-level debugging.
- Intermediate understanding of Windows networking architecture, including network virtualization, Hyper-V networking, and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) integration.
- Practical experience with MsQuic for implementing and optimizing QUIC protocol performance and security.
- Expertise in high-performance packet processing using XDP (Express Data Path) and programmable networking through eBPF (Extended Berkeley Packet Filter).
- Experience with Network Module Runtime (NMR) or similar frameworks for binary containment, rollback, and runtime management of network modules.
- Knowledge of rebootless update mechanisms (e.g., hotpatching frameworks) for maintaining networking components without downtime.
- Familiarity with open-source networking components and undocked servicing, particularly for MsQuic, XDP, and eBPF ecosystems.
- Analytical skills for both operational troubleshooting and code-level investigation of complex networking issues.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with development, support, and security teams to deliver robust, secure, and scalable enterprise networking solutions.
- Demonstrated capability to balance hands-on technical depth with a strategic understanding of networking system design and performance optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings, create knowledge articles, and mentor peers on advanced networking concepts.
