Make an Impact (Job Summary + Responsibilities)

We are seeking a highly skilled VAT SME – GL Tax to join our General Ledger team at Fossil Group. This role is responsible for leading compliance with indirect taxation (GST and others), process optimization, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliations. You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, serve as a key resource for tax-related queries, and support process automation initiatives across the GL team.

What you will do in this role:

• Ensure accurate and timely filing of GST and other indirect tax returns in accordance with statutory requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date records for all tax-related transactions and filings.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on indirect tax matters; advise internal stakeholders and ensure compliance.
• Act as the point of contact for internal and external audits relating to tax matters.
• Guide and support junior GL team members in implementing automation and process improvements.
• Lead and review month-end close activities including inventory accounting, account reconciliations, trial balance, lease accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and P&L / Balance Sheet reviews.
• Review existing GL processes, identify improvement opportunities, and drive efficiency initiatives.
• Ensure alignment with US GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards across all operational reporting areas.
• Partner with AP, AR, Reporting, and other cross-functional teams to meet organizational financial goals.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance frameworks.
  
  

Who You Are (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA / CA / CS / ICWA or equivalent certification required.
• 6–10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in US MNCs or Big 4 firms.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS, indirect taxation (GST), and GL functions.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and automation initiatives.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a drive for operational excellence.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic and compliance-driven environment.
• Prior experience in a shared services or GCC (Global Capability Center) is preferred.
