With Epiroc vision to automate all our mining equipment, we foresee number of projects in our roadmap and same will increase with time.
As Controls Team, we are growing steadily and incorporating more competence and offering and therefore are looking for dynamic team members who are energetic and can complement to the team.
Job Description
Are you ready to take the next step, exhibit your MATLAB Simulink and simulation skills and work in a challenging and innovative environment with a global focus?
We offer a workplace with colleagues having different culture, competence and demography, where cultures and perspectives meet and work together to achieve common goals. The Simulation Engineer role that we offer, has a significant role in the understanding the working principle of the machine and develop model machine/subsystem equivalent in MATLAB for simulation purpose. As a Simulation engineer, you will be working with Mining Equipment Projects and will be designing and developing the Simulation for components and system level. You will be responsible for simulating complex multidisciplinary systems—mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and thermal—to support design, validation, and optimization of next-generation mining equipment
Responsibilities and tasks
Simulation and Modeling:
Develop and maintain dynamic simulation models for mining and electric equipment using MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape libraries.
Model mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and thermal subsystems, including motors, inverters, batteries, pumps, valves, drivetrains, and cooling systems.
Simulate complete machine behavior, such as driveline dynamics, energy efficiency, thermal management, and hydraulic actuation.
Perform parametric studies, “what-if” analyses, and design optimizations to support product decisions.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with system engineers, hardware and software teams to define requirements and ensure correct component interactions.
Work closely with system engineers, hardware and software teams to define requirements and ensure correct component interactions.
System Integration & Verification:
Execute MIL/SIL/HIL testing workflows to validate embedded control software against simulated environments.
Incorporate real-world usage data such as terrain profiles, operator behavior, and machine duty cycles into simulation.
Testing and Documentation:
Develop automated test scripts, perform regression testing, and troubleshoot model-related issues.
Document model architecture, assumptions, validation strategies, and key simulation outcomes.
Experience
To succeed in this role, you should bring a combination of strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on simulation experience. You should have:
Proven track record in physical system simulation using MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape libraries.
Prior exposure to multi-domain modeling across hydraulics, thermal, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Experience supporting controls development through simulation-based workflows (MIL/SIL/HIL).
An ability to work collaboratively with global teams and an eagerness to stay updated with the latest simulation technologies.
Must have
5+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape, including:
Simscape Electrical, Simscape Fluids, Simscape Driveline
Strong understanding of:
Multiphysics modeling (e.g., combining hydraulics, thermal, electrical domains)
Vehicle-level system behavior, including energy flow, regenerative braking, and thermal efficiency
Familiarity with:
Model-Based Design (MBD) concepts and workflows
Simulation of CAN, J1939 protocols and communication logic
Generate auto code using Embedded/PLC coder for deployment on embedded hardware
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Certification in relevant technologies or programming languages.
Good to Have
Experience in modeling:
Battery systems, SOC estimation, thermal safety, degradation
Duty cycles, terrain interaction, load modeling
Exposure to real-time platforms (Speedgoat, NI VeriStand, dSPACE)
Understanding of thermal loops, cooling systems, battery thermal management
Understanding & working knowledge of Structure Text as per IEC 61131-3
Co-simulation familiarity with FMU, Modelica, or Simulink-AMESim
Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 13849, 19014, or 26262
Location
The work location is Bengaluru, Karnataka.
