The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance tuning, and maintenance of enterprise-grade databases, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases in production and development environments.
  • Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, Log Shipping, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Pump, and SQL Server native tools.
  • Monitor database health and proactively resolve issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Automate routine tasks using PL/SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell, and shell scripting.
  • Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Lead database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, data governance, and audit requirements.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Technical And Professional Experience

  • 7 + years of experience in database administration with strong hands-on expertise in both Oracle (12c/19c/21c) and SQL Server (2016/2019/2022).
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools (OEM, SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, etc.)
  • Expertise in data mining, data storage and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) processes
  • Experience in data pipelines development and tooling, e.g., Glue, Databricks, Synapse, or Dataproc
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, PostgreSQL, DB2, MongoDB
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues, to derive technical requirements from business needs and problems
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure, AWS RDS).
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) is a plus.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience working as a Data Engineer and/or in cloud modernization
  • Experience in Data Modelling, to create conceptual model of how data is connected and how it will be used in business processes
  • Professional certification, e.g., Open Certified Technical Specialist with Data Engineering Specialization
