Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Datasets Team, which is focused on delivering foundational services that power data access, connectivity, and insight across the Alteryx platform. You’ll play a key role in architecting and scaling services that form the backbone of data-driven product capabilities.

This role offers the opportunity to influence engineering direction, foster technical excellence, and introduce innovative AI-driven experiences that enable customers to unlock deeper insights from their data. Youll collaborate across functions, lead critical initiatives, and help define how we build reliable, scalable, and intelligent systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed systems that power high-performance, cloud-native services used across the platform.
• Deliver scalable microservices and backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, with deployments orchestrated via Kubernetes and Docker.
• Lead product-facing initiatives that enable smarter, AI-powered customer experiences through integrated data insights.
• Mentor and guide engineers in areas of software craftsmanship, system design, and architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to translate business goals into high-impact engineering solutions.
• Drive operational excellence with strong observability, reliability practices, and a proactive approach to incident resolution.
• Identify long-term architectural improvements, lead technical discussions, and influence roadmap planning.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience building scalable backend systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and service-oriented architecture.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with cloud data solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Familiarity with distributed systems principles, microservices communication (e.g., gRPC), and asynchronous processing.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD workflows and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work across the full product lifecycle—from concept to production support.
