Primary Purpose
The Senior Procurement Specialist is dedicated to managing sourcing and procurement of specialized clinical trial materials and equipment. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of supplies, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and skilled in vendor management, with experience navigating both domestic and international clinical supply chains.
Responsibilities
Lead sourcing and procurement for specialized clinical trial materials, laboratory equipment, and study supplies.
Identify, evaluate, and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and service agreements with vendors.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
Monitor procurement KPIs, track budgets, and identify and implement opportunities for cost savings or process improvements.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international shipping standards for clinical trial materials.
Maintain organized records of purchase orders, vendor contracts, shipments, and vendor communications.
Mentor junior procurement staff, providing guidance on processes, best practices, and troubleshooting.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement team to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
3–5 years of procurement, supply chain, or clinical trial experience preferred.
Strong analytical skills and experience in procurement.
Knowledge of international shipping, customs, and regulatory compliance for medical materials.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strategic thinker with an analytical and data-driven approach to procurement decisions.
Skilled at building and maintaining strong vendor and internal stakeholder relationships.
Proactive problem-solver with the ability to anticipate and address supply chain challenges.
Independent and self-motivated while also capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated clinical environment.
