Role Summary

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Engineering Manager – Big Data to lead the data engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance big data solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in data engineering, hands-on experience with cloud-based big data platforms, and a proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow high-performing teams. In this role, you will work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to shape data strategy, uphold data quality, and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and career development.
• Architect, implement, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines (batch and real-time).
• Ensure best practices for data governance, quality, and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.
• Oversee cloud-based big data platforms, including S3, Redshift, EMR.
• Manage workflow orchestration using Airflow or equivalent tools.
• Implement and maintain data modeling, warehousing, and streaming solutions (Kafka, Spark).
• Drive continuous improvement, process optimization, and adoption of emerging big data technologies
  
  

• 9+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
• Expertise in SQL and data modelling.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, EMR).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and services like S3, Redshift.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and real-time data streaming (e.g., Kafka).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to balance technical leadership with people management.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
