The Senior Benefits Analyst provides advanced analytical and operational support for U.S. employee benefit programs while based in India. This position partners closely with the U.S. Benefits Center of Excellence to deliver high-quality support across health, welfare, and retirement programs. The role focuses on Tier 2/Tier 3 issue resolution, vendor oversight, process improvement, and compliance support within a global HR shared services model.
Essential Functions
- Administer and support U.S. employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, 401(k), pension, and COBRA.
- Resolve escalated employee and retiree benefit issues with accuracy, timeliness, and empathy.
- Monitor and research vendor file feed errors, eligibility discrepancies, and data integrity issues; collaborate with HRIS and vendors to correct and prevent recurrence.
- Support benefit audits and compliance processes such as dependent eligibility, 401(k) and FSA reconciliations, ACA reporting, and nondiscrimination testing.
- Assist with state and federal compliance filings, including Form 5500, CMS, CAA, and MA HIRD.
- Test and validate Workday benefit configurations, particularly during system releases and annual open enrollment.
- Support annual U.S. open enrollment activities and assist in the implementation of new benefit plans, programs, and vendors.
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose practical solutions to enhance accuracy, compliance, and employee experience.
- Develop and maintain employee communications, FAQs, and process documentation.
- Generate and interpret reports from Workday and vendor systems to support compliance and data quality efforts.
- Serve as a liaison for India-based support of U.S. benefits operations, collaborating with HR, Payroll, HRIS, and vendor teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in U.S. health and welfare benefits administration within a COE, corporate HR, or outsourcing/TPA environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits laws and regulations, including HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
- Experience supporting a multistate U.S. workforce.
- Experience supporting U.S. clients or employees from India or a global shared services environment preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively with U.S.-based stakeholders.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivots, conditional analysis).
- Experience with Workday and ServiceNow preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, virtual global team environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and accountability.
