How You Will Contribute

You will report to the ROA Test Engineering Manager and play a key role in validating the functionality and performance of our Route Optimization and Analysis (ROA) solutions. You will contribute to delivering a high-quality product by developing test strategies, executing test plans, and ensuring seamless integration across systems and protocols. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, PLMs, and product owners to translate high-level requirements into robust test coverage.
• Develop and execute test plans for L3 Routing, Packet Management, Fault Management, and Traffic Integrity using tools like TestRail.
• Lead lab setup and equipment coordination activities to simulate real-world test environments.
• Validate integration of open-source and third-party applications into Blue Planet ROA solutions.
• Analyze test results, raise defects via Jira, and prepare detailed test reports.
• Automate manual test cases using REST/UI automation with Python; maintain CI/CD readiness.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure best practices in automation and test coverage.
  
  

The Must Haves

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in system testing or validation.
• Strong hands-on experience with L2/L3 networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, Segment Routing, E-LINE/E-LAN, LDP/RSVP-TE, SNMPv2/v3, TACACS, RADIUS, Netconf, GNMI, etc.
• Proficiency in using traffic generators like IXIA or Spirent for performance/stress testing.
• Experience in test automation using Python (REST APIs/UI Automation) and CI/CD tools.
• Experience with Unix/Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) system administration and server environments.
• Knowledge of VMware ESXi, OpenStack, and network virtualization software (Open vSwitch, vRouter).
  
  

Assets

• Experience with Ciena’s Blue Planet platform, architecture, and microservices.
• Exposure to cloud orchestration and container technologies.
• Familiarity with microservices, REST-based applications, and service assurance domains.
• Understanding of modern Agile/DevOps methodologies and tools.
