We use advanced technologies to leverage our vast catalog of images in ways that dramatically improve the experience of Amazon customers. We tackle complex problems in computer vision, image recognition, machine learning and AI, and large-scale distributed systems.
Amazon Search is seeking a quick-thinking, detail-oriented program manager to help us build Amazon-scale datasets for our machine learning efforts. Specifically, you will manage relationships with our data annotation vendors, overseeing contracts, budgets, and service delivery. You will also create new datasets to accelerate the progress of our computer vision teams. To succeed, you must possess a broad knowledge of consumer products in general, excel at program management and vendor management, and continuously seek out ways to improve and scale up our dataset building efforts.
Key job responsibilities
Leading the development of datasets for machine-learning initiatives, including orchestrating the efforts of multiple stakeholders and resolving tradeoffs between quality, latency and cost.
Designing, operating and analyzing data groundtruthing pipelines that involve multilingual workforces.
Assessing the quality and content of images and other data for locales in which Amazon conducts business.
Managing vendor relationships and contracts for data annotation services, including negotiating terms, generating purchase orders, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
Overseeing budget planning and financial management for vendor services, including annual spend forecasting, tracking expenditures against budget, and managing budget revisions.
Conducting regular business reviews with primary vendors to assess performance, resolve operational issues, and identify cost optimization opportunities.
Communicating opportunities and status reports to Amazon leadership.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of program or project management experience
3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
Bachelors degree
Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Ability to evaluate images with high attention to detail, including identifying specific objects, attributes, and differences.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
3+ years of driving process improvements experience
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
2+ years of vendor management experience
Experience applying statistical methods such as variance measurement, hypothesis testing, ROC analysis, and confusion matrices
