It is also a growing business, as online time increases for more people and more advertisers want to reach them. The field of computational advertising combines information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, statistical modelling, optimization, linear algebra, and microeconomics to tackle the multitude of problems that can arise and to run operations optimally.

We are hiring Data Scientists for the Microsoft Advertising Platform – Analytics teams. This team is responsible for driving overall product analytics, system observability, reporting, and identifying revenue growth opportunities. We use big data from different sources, such as advertisers, publishers, system components, and users, to identify connections between anomalies and conduct investigations, diagnosis, and resolution of issues that may impact the performance of the product, as well as to discover new areas of opportunity.

For this role, we are looking for a strong software developer turned data enthusiast who loves to harness the power of data through statistical and quantitative analysis to gain meaningful insights and make key business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Run analysis to explain and debug behaviour of the products KPIs and metrics.
  • Improve dashboards and reporting of the system.
  • Design and analyse AB experiments to validate hypothesis.
  • Improve infra and logging for better measurement.
  • Running opportunity analysis for improvements in revenue and other metrics of the system.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of relevant experience is expected; however, for exceptional candidates, experience is not a constraint.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with a strong emphasis on data analytics, Stats, Computer Science, Mathematics, and PhD degrees ; flexibility is available for exceptional candidates.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language: Python/SQL, C#, or Java.
  • Knowledge of Python and/or R for general coding as well as data analysis is highly valued.
  • Knowledge in some of the following areas: Machine Learning, Quantitative Analysis, Modeling, and A/B experimentation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical competence and analytical skills.
