We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if youre ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
THE ROLE
As the Technical Architect for our Testbed Infrastructure, you will design the blueprint for a global automation platform that scales from hundreds to thousands of complex environments. You will bridge the gap between hardware and software, transforming how our engineering teams consume infrastructure by moving us from reactive manual fixes to a state of proactive, self-healing orchestration. Partnering closely with Engineering Leadership, you will serve as the technical north star for the team, ensuring our foundation is resilient enough to support the next generation of product innovation.
What You’ll Do
- Orchestration Architecture: Design and oversee the development of a unified orchestration layer that manages state, scheduling, and resource allocation across our entire physical and virtual fleet.
- Infrastructure Reliability: Eliminate systemic bottlenecks—such as resource contention and distributed locking issues—to ensure 99.9% availability of provisioning workflows for global engineering teams.
- Technical Roadmap Leadership: Define the long-term strategy for hardware lifecycle management, ensuring our automation stack seamlessly integrates with next-generation hardware and evolving operating systems.
- Cross-Functional Standardization: Partner with SRE and Product teams to establish company-wide standards for environment requests, reducing time-to-test and streamlining the CI/CD pipeline.
- Technical Mentorship: Cultivate a high-performance engineering culture by setting code quality standards and coaching senior engineers on distributed systems design and complex root-cause analysis.
What You Bring
- Distributed Systems Mastery: Proven ability to architect and scale infrastructure management tools, with a deep understanding of the trade-offs between consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.
- Systems Engineering Expertise: Advanced knowledge of the Linux kernel, boot processes (PXE/iPXE), and virtualization/containerization technologies such as KVM, QEMU, and Docker.
- Software Craftsmanship: Expert-level proficiency in Python or Go, with the ability to design robust APIs and scalable microservices that interact directly with physical and virtual hardware.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: A track record of solving "impossible" technical challenges that span the entire stack, from low-level hardware and networking to high-level software orchestration.
- Pragmatic Strategy: The ability to advocate for technical excellence and modern architectural patterns while effectively balancing business priorities and existing legacy constraints.
- Location: We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the {{OFFICE_LOCATION}} office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
