Purpose

As a Product Development Manager, you will lead high‑performing engineering teams to design, build, and deliver reliable, high‑quality software that powers laboratory and healthcare workflows. You will work cross‑functionally to translate customer and business needs into executable plans, ensuring predictable delivery, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will drive alignment, foster innovation—including AI‑enabled development practices—and ensure your team’s contributions meet or exceed organizational objectives. Familiarity with artificial intelligence is essential. You should have hands-on experience using generative AI tools—such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and are familiar with the latest versions of popular LLMs such as Claude or GPT-X—as well as a strong foundational understanding of general AI concepts. Your proficiency with these technologies will equip you to effectively guide engineering teams in AI initiatives and leverage the specialized expertise of AI engineers appropriately.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities

• Contributes to product strategy and roadmap deliverables, including effort estimates, regulatory considerations, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
• Leads and manages software development projects of varying complexity, ensuring accountability for delivery, quality, and outcomes.
• Ensures projects meet timeline commitments and adhere to corporate quality standards.
• Leads the implementation of GenAI practices to automate and streamline operations throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including activities such as code generation from user stories, technology stack translation, automated design, intelligent check-in comments, and enhanced early-stage testing, ensuring greater consistency and efficiency across the product portfolio.
• Prioritizes schedules and allocates resources for software development projects in accordance with the Product Roadmap.
• Oversees comprehensive project planning and execution for software development efforts, including task assignment, milestone tracking, risk assessment, and status reporting.
• Provides mentorship, coaching, and career development support to team members, fostering a high-performing, engaged, and growth-oriented engineering organization.
• Promotes a culture that instils a focus on the customer by understanding their needs and delivering value with each interaction.
• Investigates escalated technical issues and provides timely, effective solutions to customer reported problems.
• Champions an AI-first approach to software development and delivery, driving the adoption of AI-driven tools, practices, and automation to improve quality, velocity, and innovation.
• Communicates cross-functionally, ensuring transparency and clarity.

Required Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience considered.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, engineering, or product-delivery roles with a strong record of meeting quality and timeline commitments.
• 4+ years of people-management experience, leading engineering teams and driving accountability, coaching, and performance development.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, with strong expertise in the .NET technology stack.
• Hands-on experience with API and microservices design, including RESTful and/or event-driven architectures.
• Experience applying AI-driven development practices, including the use of AI tooling, code generation, or building agentic/automation-based solutions.
• Practical experience working within Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar).
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD automation, environment management, and observability.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver software in regulated environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  
  

Preferred Experience & Education

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or a related discipline.
• Experience developing software for bioinformatics, genomics, or diagnostics domains.
• 3+ years of experience building or supporting software solutions in healthcare, life sciences, or laboratory environments.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams across time zones and cultures.
• Background in AI/ML-enabled product features, clinical decision-support systems, or data-heavy applications is highly beneficial.
