Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend and microservices. You will work with modern frameworks and architectures, contribute to system design, and build backend services aligned with business requirements. This role is for someone with 6 to 10 years of hands-on backend development experience — ready to take full ownership of services and contribute to scalable, distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices using Java and related frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot).
• Build and expose RESTful APIs, ensure clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Architect and implement distributed, microservices-based systems; design scalable, maintainable system architecture.
• Work with asynchronous/event-driven communication/message brokers (e.g. Apache Kafka) when required.
• Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases: design schemas, optimize queries, ensure data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, QA, product) to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, write unit/integration tests, and ensure high-quality code base and architecture.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and security issues in production systems.
• Continuously improve backend architecture, suggest optimizations, stay updated with new technologies and best practices.
  
  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6 – 10 years of professional experience in backend development using Java.
• Strong proficiency in Core Java, with solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), data structures, and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot (or similar Java backend frameworks) and building microservices architecture.
• Experience in developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Practical experience with message brokers / streaming platforms (like Kafka) or similar asynchronous/event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases; ability to design database schemas and optimize queries.
• Good understanding of software design patterns, system design fundamentals, distributed systems, scalable architecture, and best practices.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git), build tools (Maven/Gradle), and standard development workflow including code reviews and CI/CD practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Good communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  
  

• Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker), orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) — beneficial but not mandatory.
• Experience with microservices infrastructure aspects — service discovery, API gateways, load balancing, fault tolerance, etc.
• Familiarity with security best practices (authentication/authorization, secure coding) in backend services.
• Exposure to performance tuning, logging/monitoring, and maintaining production-grade backend systems with high availability.
• Experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team or contributing to architectural decisions.
