Job Description Summary

Product Support Engineer (PSE) is responsible for providing technical leadership to in-service technical management of GE90 and GP7200 MS (Mechanical Systems) Module Components, and sub-systems throughout the product life cycle. PSE is also responsible for delivering technical support to customers, ensuring product safety, reliability, time on-wing, durability, customer responsiveness, cost of ownership, and productivity.

The PSE will own and maintain the ICA documents for GE90/GP7200 MS hardware (ATA’s), and will act as an interface with Engineering Organizations (Design, Repair, Analytics, Materials Engineering, etc.), Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Shops (MRO), Digital Services Solutions (DSS), Aviation Operations Centre (AOC), Customer & Product Support Organization (C&PSO) and Global Research teams, based on business needs to support the fielded engines.

In this role, you will report to Sub-Section Manager, Fleet Management –GE90/GP Section, JFWTC, Bangalore.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview

  • Acts as technical interface between GE Internal organizations and Airline/MRO shops.
  • Own and maintains the ICA documents for assigned hardwares (ATA’s), this includes responding to technical inquiries (including AOG priority), author Service Bulletins and support customer technical communication.
  • Deliver timely and accurate field containment plans and work with the expanded engineering team to develop field fix design solutions.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks complying with engineering and agency policies and procedures.
  • Lead business initiatives for field issues and cost of ownership goals
  • Provide support for Time On Wing (TOW) objectives and Customized Service Agreements (CSA)/ Cost Margin Reviews (CMR) reviews around hardware ownership.
  • Drive resolution to top in-service issues and on-time customer responsiveness, burn down DR volume.
  • 24/7 availability on need basis to resolve field issues (eg AOG, Workscope Mitigation, Work stoppage) regarding assigned hardware.
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and customer commitments.
  • Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive communication internally and externally.

Ideal Candidate

Should have experience in Aero Engines or Turbo machinery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors /Masters/PhDs in Mechanical Engineering specialization with strong academic track record.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Aero Engines or Turbo machinery.
  • In-depth understanding of processes for airworthiness requirement, Services engineering technology/tools.
  • Prior experience in leading projects, working with global teams across engineering and commercial organizations.
  • Strong engineering problem solving capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
