Position Overview

Role: F5 Architect

Project Context

Enterprise-level client engagement involving migration of virtual servers from Citrix Netscaler to F5 BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE) Local Traffic Manager (LTM) with Global Traffic Manager (GTM) components. Initial client discovery call requires technical resource to demonstrate capabilities and discuss project scope.

Primary Responsibilities

Immediate Requirements (Pre-Sales/Discovery Phase)

  • Participate in client discovery call to assess technical requirements and project scope
  • Demonstrate deep technical expertise in F5 BIG-IP architecture and migration strategies
  • Provide technical consultation on migration approach from Citrix Netscaler to F5 BIG-IP VE
  • Answer client technical questions confidently and accurately
  • Assess project complexity and provide preliminary recommendations
  • Build client confidence in InOpTras technical capabilities

Project Execution Phase (Post-Engagement)

  • Lead technical design and architecture for Citrix Netscaler to F5 BIG-IP VE LTM migration
  • Design and implement VIP (Virtual IP) configurations on F5 BIG-IP LTM
  • Architect and deploy F5 GTM (Global Traffic Manager) solutions
  • Develop migration strategy with minimal service disruption
  • Create detailed technical documentation including migration plans, runbooks, and architecture diagrams
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with client team
  • Provide post-migration support and optimization recommendations

Required Technical Skills

F5 BIG-IP Expertise (Must-Have)

  • 8-12+ years hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP platforms
  • Deep expertise in F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM)
  • Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP Virtual Edition (VE) deployments
  • Proven experience with F5 Global Traffic Manager (GTM) implementation and configuration
  • F5 BIG-IP administration including:
  • Virtual Server (VIP) configuration and management
  • Pool and pool member management
  • Health monitors and persistence profiles
  • iRules scripting and policies
  • SSL/TLS offloading and certificate management
  • Load balancing algorithms and methods
  • Traffic management and application delivery

Migration Experience (Must-Have)

  • Demonstrated experience migrating from Citrix Netscaler (ADC) to F5 BIG-IP
  • Understanding of Citrix Netscaler architecture, terminology, and configuration patterns
  • Ability to map Netscaler configurations to equivalent F5 BIG-IP constructs
  • Experience with migration tools, scripts, and methodologies
  • Understanding of configuration conversion and validation processes

Networking & Infrastructure (Required)

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS protocols
  • Load balancing concepts and architectures (Layer 4 and Layer 7)
  • Virtual server and application delivery concepts
  • High availability and disaster recovery architectures
  • Network security best practices
  • Experience with virtual infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, or cloud platforms)
