What youll do
Docusign is looking for a highly motivated Engineering Manager to join our Commerce engineering team under the Growth vertical. The Engineering Manager will lead a high-performing team of Software Engineers. This position is a hands-on management role focusing on the eCommerce platform (frontend and backend) for Docusign’s digital business.
This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director of Engineering.
Responsibility
- Be responsible for building high-quality, user-focused eCommerce services with C# or Java
- Lead a team of engineers at various stages of their career, actively investing in their growth and development
- Have a passion for continuous improvement
- Be responsible for delivering products that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
- Dive deep into technology and are on the forefront of the latest tools, technologies, and strategies and help evaluate, prototype, and introduce them to our team
- Be an expert at agile continuous delivery, DevOps and TDD/BDD and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high quality development environment
- Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
- Have a demonstrated track record of building high performing, secure applications and building security into the DNA of products
- Obsess over uptime and will be a partner to product management, engineering, sales, operations, and other parts of the business
- Cultivate an open, collaborative, and fun work environment for yourself and your team
- Work closely with product, design, security, customer success and other teams to provide technical expertise throughout all phases of product development
- Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans and deliverables
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- 10+ years of combined software development and management experience across multiple frontend technologies and frameworks
- 2+ years of experience managing a team of engineers and participating in the entire employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, performance management and employee development
- Experience in building scalable microservices
- Experience in building support or self-serve agents
- Experience in large scale distributed systems and data pipelines
- BS degree in CS or equivalent work experience
Preferred
- Passion for learning and working with new technologies
- Strong understanding of performance tuning the services, uptime and scalable architecture
- Working knowledge of user authentication and authorization
- Product development experience building large scale user facing web applications
