General Description Of Job Purpose
Pratt & Whitney is a seeking a Design Engineer to work at our India Engineering Center campus in Bengaluru, India. The successful candidate will join the Hot Section Engineering team to provide production and field support for our operational commercial hot section engine components such as Mid turbine frame, Combustor Case, HPT case, etc.
Major Areas Of Responsibilities Or Tasks
Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones.
Collaboration with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Understand technical processes and design requirements of gas turbine hardware.
Learn and apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner.
Utilize standard work, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and other tools to continuously improve design processes.
Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.
Support in the preparation of status and technical content to CIPT.
Analyzes data gathered and develops solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work
Work closely with IPT members and authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause and recommend product improvements
Supports Class 1 and Class 2 engineering change execution
Support in the execution of risks assessments and mitigation plans
Other Major Areas Of Responsibilities Or Tasks
Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100 efforts
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company
Support project management activities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with minimum 4 years of relevant experience (or)
Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree from premium institutes and experience working in the Aerospace Industry, having broad understanding of gas turbine hardware, drawings, and manufacturing methods.
High proficiency in Unigraphics, MS Office, Teamcenter and SAP is desired.
Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.
Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.
Latest GD&T and its application on CAD models, ASME standards such as ASME Y14.5 – 2018, ASME Y14.41 - 2019 and other industry standards.
Proficiency in analysis tools such as ANSYS and workbench.
Automated design optimization skills are a plus.
Green/Black Belt six sigma certification is also a plus.

Travel up to 10% based on business needs
