Job Overview

The Buyer will be responsible for product selection, vendor negotiations, and category management in Bengaluru for Reliance Retail. This full-time, mid-level position requires 4 to 6 years of relevant buying experience, primarily supporting the fashion and lifestyle category. The ideal candidate will be skilled in building vendor relationships, category planning, and inventory management to drive business growth and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in Lingerie buying or merchandising roles within the retail industry, with a focus on fashion and lifestyle products.
  • Strong expertise in category planning (Mandatory skill), capable of devising product mix strategies to maximize store profitability and meet customer demand.
  • Proven experience in vendor management (Mandatory skill), including evaluating, negotiating, and securing preferred supplier agreements to ensure best-in-class product sourcing.
  • Demonstrated ability in fashion buying, encompassing trend identification, assortment planning, and supporting seasonal selections in a dynamic retail environment.
  • Hands-on skills in inventory management, adept at monitoring stock levels, executing replenishment plans, and minimizing overstock or shortages.
  • Proficiency in sales tracking to evaluate product performance, supporting data-driven decisions for optimizing assortment and sales growth.
  • Strong expertise in market and trend analysis to identify emerging opportunities and make timely merchandising recommendations to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Effective negotiation skills, including contract terms, pricing, and delivery schedules, to maximize cost savings and value for Reliance Retail.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category plans aligned with Reliance Retails goals, ensuring optimal product assortment and positioning for the assigned category.
  • Source, evaluate, and onboard new vendors while maintaining productive long-term vendor partnerships to meet quality and cost parameters.
  • Analyze sales performance and inventory levels to adjust buying strategies, address slow-moving items, and capitalize on best-sellers for improved profitability.
  • Conduct regular market and competitor analysis to identify trends, assess product demand, and seize growth opportunities in fashion and lifestyle segments.
  • Negotiate terms and agreements with vendors, securing the best prices, discounts, and delivery conditions to ensure sustained supply and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and visual merchandising teams to launch new collections, promotions, and support in-store execution.
  • Monitor supplier performance, address quality or delivery issues promptly, and ensure strict adherence to Reliance Retails procurement policies and standards.
  • Prepare periodic reports and present insights on buying performance, stock status, and future category expansion plans to senior management.
