Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer with deep experience in e-commerce, omnichannel environments, and martech/retail media ecosystems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of thriving in fast-paced, challenging environments, and has hands-on experience building post-transaction analytics, executive dashboards, order lifecycle reporting, and pricing & promotion scorecards. This role requires strong business acumen, analytical excellence, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics & Reporting
Design, build, and automate post-transaction performance reports, including order quality, funnel analytics, and fulfillment metrics.
Develop executive dashboards that provide leadership with insights on revenue, customer behavior, channel performance, marketing ROI, promotions, and operational KPIs.
Create and maintain detailed Order Lifecycle analytics across order creation, payment processing, fulfillment, shipping, cancellations, returns, and post-purchase engagement.
Build Pricing and Promotion scorecards, including elasticity analysis, promo effectiveness, price testing results, and margin impact assessments.
Partner with martech and retail media teams to deliver measurement frameworks and reporting for campaign performance, attribution, and audience segmentation.
Business Insights & Strategy
Identify key trends, patterns, and business opportunities across omnichannel touchpoints (website, app, in-store, retail media networks, CRM, etc.).
Deliver clear recommendations that influence product, merchandising, pricing, CX, and supply-chain strategies.
Support strategic initiatives related to customer lifecycle management, acquisition, retention, personalization, and loyalty.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product, Marketing, Martech/AdTech, Merchandising, Operations, Finance, and Engineering to align business KPIs and measurement strategies.
Translate stakeholder requirements into analytics specifications and prioritize data development needs.
Act as a bridge between business teams and technical teams (data engineering, BI, IT).
Tools & Technology
Use BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik) to build scalable dashboards and visualizations.
Work with SQL, Python or R for deep-dive analytics and automation.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance data models and optimize data pipelines.
Utilize Martech/Retail Media platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe, Google Marketing Platform, CitrusAd, Criteo, or similar tools).
Qualifications Required
7-9 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Analytics Specialist in e-commerce, omnichannel retail, martech, or retail media environments.
Strong understanding of e-commerce workflows, digital operations, customer journey, and retail merchandising principles.
Demonstrated experience building executive-level dashboards and analytical frameworks.
Advanced proficiency in SQL and BI visualization tools.
Ability to work in high-ambiguity, fast-moving, and challenging environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to senior stakeholders.
Preferred
Experience with A/B testing, experimentation platforms, or incrementality measurement.
Knowledge of retail media optimization, digital advertising metrics, and attribution modeling.
Background working with data engineering teams and familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
Experience supporting pricing, promotion, or merchandising analytics.
