About The Role
We are seeking a Quality Lead to join our team and oversee all quality assurance activities within the production process. The Quality Lead will ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality, comply with customer requirements, and adhere to internal and industry standards. This role includes responsibility for supplier quality, process improvement initiatives, and leadership of a team of quality engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Launch
- Coordinate the development and industrialization of products to ensure quality standards are met at all stages.
- Ensure a smooth transition from design to production through collaboration with process and manufacturing engineers.
- Lead product definition and development to ensure all requirements are met.
- Apply production management systems, engineering change management processes, quality tools, and standards.
- Manage prototype development and production: align on additional part requirements, coordinate changes, and transfer information to the supplier.
Production Quality Management
- Monitor and ensure manufacturability and product quality throughout the production cycle.
- Oversee production risk analysis: create action plans, track capabilities, and report risks.
- Ensure key production milestones are completed on time and meet all quality goals.
- Manage mass production processes: track the quality of each technological stage and the final product.
- Analyze quality data, identify areas for improvement, and drive corrective actions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective actions (8D, RCA).
- Maintain and ensure calibration of measuring and inspection equipment.
- Have the authority to stop production or delivery in case of critical nonconformities.
Supplier Quality Management
- Act as the primary interface between the customer and supplier regarding quality issues.
- Conduct supplier audits, identify improvement points, and manage supplier quality improvement initiatives.
- Support suppliers in preparing and submitting PPAP packages and initial sample submissions, including process audits.
- Validate 8D reports and participate in escalation processes as needed.
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Implement, maintain, and improve quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar).
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and requirements of the company’s quality management system.
- Ensure timely responses to corrective actions and compliance with customer response-time expectations.
- Lead internal audits to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of quality engineers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams.
- Provide training and support to production teams on quality control processes.
- Drive continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required - Higher technical education (Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, or similar).
- 10+ years of experience in quality leadership within a manufacturing environment (automotive or aerospace preferred).
- Expert knowledge of:
- Manufacturing processes and production systems
- Quality standards and documentation
- Mechanical properties of metals, plastics, composites
- Metal post-processing methods
- Experience managing a quality team and driving quality improvements.
- Strong communication skills; English level C1 (written & verbal).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with measuring and inspection tools (Laser Tracker, CMM, PCMM, etc.).
- Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, GD&T, PPAP, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and work in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion.
Preferred
- Experience in automotive or aerospace industries.
- Internal auditor certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, BS OHSAS 18001, AQAP 2110).
- Experience with Verisurf X, CATIA V5, Unigraphics, PolyWorks, ThinkDesign, SolidWorks.
- Advanced experience with GD&T and complex measurement systems.
