About The Position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Marine Instructor to join the Subsea Marine & Shipping team. Reporting to the Manager, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
The Training Instructor is accountable for managing and delivering high-quality engineering training programs at the training center. This role includes scheduling, documentation standardization, simulator coordination, course development, and vendor liaison. The instructor ensures that training content remains relevant and aligned with fleet and industry standards, while supporting operational and compliance needs.
The instructor is responsible for delivering simulation-based training to maritime engineering professionals. The role combines classroom instruction with hands-on simulator exercises to ensure compliance with international standards and Chevron procedures.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Management
Develop and maintain the annual engineering training calendar.
Schedule and manage engine room simulator-based training sessions.
Oversee training logistics and help resolve simulator issues.
Course Development & Delivery
Design, update, and deliver courses on marine engineering systems, machinery operation, troubleshooting, and emergency procedures.
Support development of specialized courses (e.g., LNG propulsion, energy efficiency, pollution prevention).
Create realistic simulation scenarios and operate marine engineering simulators (engine room, power management, automation systems, etc.).
Assessment & Competency Management
Assess MAP (Mariner Assessment Program) sessions and trainee performance.
Review and manage marine engineering critical competencies by rank.
Recommend remediation and training interventions.
Content Review & Continuous Improvement
Revise course content for accuracy, relevance, and regulatory compliance.
Incorporate lessons learned from fleet operations and industry incidents.
Research and evaluate new training requests and provide feasibility reports.
Accreditation & Compliance
Manage training centre accreditation.
Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and training standards.
Documentation & Standardization
Standardize and improve training documentation (registration, joining instructions, logistics).
Develop and revise training materials (course frameworks, assessment templates).
Collaborate with internal and external partners to align training delivery.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with vendors (e.g., MAN, Wärtsilä) for simulator setup and updates.
Work with HR, Finance, and Operations on training costs, PO approvals, and vendor interactions.
Collaboration & Support
Assist fleet teams with remote audits.
Collaborate internally on training, compliance, and operational matters.

Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
Certification: STCW-compliant Certificate of Competency (Chief Engineer preferred).
Experience: Minimum experience as a Sr. Engineering Officer in charge of a engine room watch; Chief Engineer experience is highly valued.
Teaching Credentials: Instructor Development Program or equivalent training in instructional techniques.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in marine engineering systems, automation, engine room operations, and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW).
Preferred Qualifications
Sailing Experience: Minimum sailing experience as Chief Engineer onboard oil or LNG vessels.
Experience in operating advanced marine reengineering simulators and automation systems.
Strong communication, time management, and ability to create an engaging learning environment.
