Lead Engineer

At Aviato Consulting, we are looking for a seasoned and visionary Lead Engineer to be the technical backbone of our most critical projects. What Youll Do (Beyond the Usual):

• Architect and Own Solutions: Take full ownership of the system architecture, leading the design and development of robust, scalable, and secure full-stack solutions from concept to deployment.
• Lead and Mentor: Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of talented engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement through hands-on guidance, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Drive Technical Strategy: Partner with executive leadership and product management to define and execute the long-term technical roadmap. Make key architectural decisions that ensure alignment with business goals and long-term scalability.
• Set Engineering Standards: Establish and enforce best practices for software development, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and security. Champion a culture of quality and operational excellence.
• Solve Complex Problems: Act as the go-to expert for the teams most challenging technical issues. Dive deep into complex problems across the stack, from distributed systems to database performance, and guide the team to effective solutions.
• Hands-On Leadership: While this is a leadership role, we expect you to remain deeply technical. You will contribute to the codebase, lead by example, and stay current with industry trends to guide the team effectively.

What You Bring to the Table (Mandatory Experience):

• Extensive Industry Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale, complex software projects.
• Proven Technical Leadership: Demonstrable experience in a technical lead or senior architect role, with a history of mentoring engineers and leading project teams to success.
• Deep Architectural Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of microservices, distributed architecture, and event-driven patterns. Proven ability to make sound architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Polyglot Proficiency: Deep expertise in backend development with Java and/or Kotlin, and mastery of front-end technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• DevOps and Cloud Mastery: Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes (K8S), and messaging systems like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub. You have designed and managed production CI/CD pipelines.
• Database Virtuosity: Advanced knowledge of various database paradigms, including SQL, No-SQL, and Graph databases, with experience in data modeling and performance tuning at scale.
• Mastery of Fundamentals: Expert understanding of Asynchronous Programming, data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.

Bonus Points (Beneficial but Optional Experience):

• Experience managing cloud infrastructure costs and performance.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong public profile (e.g., tech blogs, conference talks).
• Experience working directly with clients or executive stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements.
