Role Overview

We are seeking a high-impact Data Engineering Manager to lead the end-to-end data foundation for a fast-scaling global e-commerce and marketplace operator. This is a strategic leadership role that combines deep technical engineering with operational ownership. You will not just build pipelines; you will be the connective tissue between business teams and engineering execution, ensuring data infrastructure directly drives revenue and AI/ML impact.

Core Responsibilities

• Data Platform Ownership: Design and scale a multi-region data warehouse architecture (Snowflake/BigQuery/Redshift) and manage complex ingestion pipelines from marketplaces, finance systems, and OMS/WMS.
• Business-Facing Analytics: Translate ambiguous business asks into clearly defined metrics and high-velocity dashboards for performance marketing (RoAS, CAC), inventory health, and forecasting.
• AI & Automation Readiness: Architect data systems to support advanced use cases like pricing optimization, inventory intelligence, and AI-driven automation.
• Execution & Leadership: Run structured weekly sprints, manage a small team of engineers, and proactively handle stakeholder expectations at the founder/leadership level.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 7-10+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering, with at least one stint in a fast-paced startup.
• Domain Knowledge: Proven experience in E-commerce, Marketplaces, or Supply Chain (B2B side of scaled players like Flipkart, Amazon, Zepto, or Swiggy is highly preferred).
• Technical Mastery: Hands-on expertise in ETL/ELT, API integrations, and building business-facing dashboards (Looker, Tableau, etc.).
• AI Encounter: Demonstrated experience in building data layers for AI/ML teams and delivering "brag-worthy" AI-first solutions.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical trade-offs into business language and lead junior team members.
