This Position Reports To

Senior Engineering Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of designers/engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective, and timely engineering solutions to customers. Each day, you will formulate plans and allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. You will also showcase your expertise by initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability.

This role is contributing to the ABB Robotics in Bangalore, India.

You Will Be Mainly Accountable For

  • Provide overall strategy and organizational leadership, ensuring alignment with global and local targets, driving performance outcomes, and fostering a culture aligned with ABB’s values, HSE, integrity, cybersecurity, and Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Ensure delivery of high‑quality technical solutions aligned with customer requirements, while supporting bid phases, driving customer-centric improvements, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead technical governance and execution excellence, establishing standards, resolving complex technical issues, ensuring compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements across engineering, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Drive people leadership and capability building, ensuring the team is well‑structured, skilled, and engaged through coaching, mentoring, and continuous development initiatives.
  • Oversee end-to-end operations, including processes, financial performance, risk management, and project execution, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to contract specifications, and continuous improvement across the value chain.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, with 20+ years of relevant experience in engineering, operations, or technology leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in leading large, cross-functional engineering or technical teams within a global and multicultural environment.
  • Strong expertise in engineering delivery, project execution, and technical governance, including safety, cybersecurity, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute strategic priorities, aligning local operations with global business objectives.
  • Experience in customer engagement and pre-sales/bid support, ensuring alignment of solutions with technical, cost, and delivery expectations.
  • Strong track record in people leadership, including team development, performance management, and building high-performing teams.
  • Solid understanding of process optimization and continuous improvement frameworks, including use of agile methodologies.
  • Experience in financial management, including budget planning, cost control, and delivering against financial targets.
  • Strong capability in risk identification, mitigation, and business continuity planning across projects and operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions such as supply chain, project management, manufacturing, and quality.
