The Position
This position is available in the DAIV System Team, a centralized DevOps and software infrastructure team based in Bangalore and supporting multiple software product development teams across the EMEA region. These teams develop desktop and web applications for data management, image processing, and visualization workflows. The DAIV System Team provides CI/CD infrastructure, software lifecycle management, developer tooling, AI enablement, and cybersecurity support across the software development lifecycle.
As the DevOps Lead - Desktop Applications, you will provide technical leadership for the build, test, packaging, release, and lifecycle management capabilities used by our desktop software teams. You will define scalable engineering standards for complex, cross-platform C++/Qt and .NET products, while remaining hands-on in the implementation and operation of critical DevOps solutions.
How You Will Make an Impact
You will improve the reliability, security, and speed of desktop software delivery by creating consistent build and release capabilities across Windows and Linux environments. You will guide technical decisions, reduce duplication between product teams, and establish reusable tooling that improves developer experience and product quality.
You will work closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, cybersecurity specialists, and other DevOps engineers in a distributed, international organization.
In This Role You Will
Provide technical leadership for DevOps practices, architecture, and tooling supporting desktop application development.
Define and evolve the technical roadmap for cross-platform build, test, packaging, signing, and release infrastructure.
Design, implement, and maintain reusable GitHub or GitLab CI/CD templates, shared automation, and central developer tooling.
Lead the modernization of CMake-based build systems and pipelines for C++/Qt applications, including compiler, SDK, and third-party dependency management.
Engineer and support reliable Windows and Linux build environments using PowerShell, Python, .NET, and other appropriate automation technologies.
Establish secure software supply chain practices, including dependency governance, secrets protection, vulnerability scanning, software bills of materials, and artifact signing where applicable.
Drive lifecycle management activities such as toolchain upgrades, platform migrations, deprecation plans, and remediation of obsolete components.
Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for build, pipeline, packaging, and release issues.
Identify and operationalize appropriate AI-assisted development and DevOps capabilities to improve engineering productivity while meeting security and compliance expectations.
Create engineering standards, technical documentation, reference implementations, and enablement material for product teams.
Coach and support DevOps and software engineers through design reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
Use delivery and reliability metrics to identify waste, prioritize improvements, and demonstrate measurable outcomes.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Staff-level engineer with deep desktop build and release expertise, strong architectural judgment, and a track record of improving engineering practices across multiple teams.
Besides that, you have:
Bachelor's or master's degree with 10 to 12 years of DevOps industry experience including proven technical leadership
Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Advanced experience designing, operating, and improving CI/CD and build infrastructure for commercial desktop software.
Strong proficiency with Git and GitHub or GitLab, including pipeline architecture, reusable CI/CD components, runners or agents, and artifact or package management.
Strong hands-on expertise with CMake and C++/Qt build workflows, including compiler and SDK management, third-party dependencies, and reproducible cross-platform builds.
Strong experience with Windows and Linux build environments, PowerShell and Python automation, and working knowledge of .NET engineering or delivery workflows.
Deep understanding of automated testing, packaging, release engineering, code signing, and secure software supply chain practices, including dependency governance, vulnerability scanning, secrets protection, software bills of materials, and artifact integrity.
Experience defining technical architectures and roadmaps and leading toolchain upgrades, platform migrations, deprecation plans, and lifecycle management initiatives.
Experience supporting and guiding engineers, defining cross-team standards, conducting technical reviews, and leading technical change without relying on direct authority.
Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and incident management skills for complex build, pipeline, packaging, and release issues.
Clear written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed, multicultural environment.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and modern software engineering practices.
Self-motivated, pragmatic, quality-oriented, and able to work independently while guiding teams effectively.
Ability to travel occasionally for collaboration with global teams, potentially up to 15%.
