Job Description

As a Team Lead / Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and architectural direction for high-performance, real-time web applications, including SCADA and Industrial IoT (IIoT) platforms.

You will own end-to-end system design, mentor engineers, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate with product, DevOps, and domain experts to build scalable, secure, and resilient real-time data acquisition and visualization systems.

This role combines deep technical expertise with team leadership and strategic engineering ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Architecture
• Own system architecture for real-time SCADA/IIoT web platforms.
• Define scalable backend and frontend design patterns using Node.js, NestJS, React.js, Next.js, and WebSockets.
• Drive architectural decisions around performance, scalability, high availability, and security.
• Establish technical standards, design guidelines, and review mechanisms.
• Lead major technical initiatives, refactoring, and modernization efforts.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers (code reviews, design reviews, technical coaching).
• Foster engineering best practices, ownership mindset, and accountability.
• Support sprint planning, estimations, and technical risk assessment.
• Enable cross-team collaboration across globally distributed teams.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, and skill development initiatives.
• Application Development & Delivery
• Design and develop high-performance backend and frontend applications.
• Architect real-time data streaming systems using WebSocket and messaging protocols (e.g., MQTT).
• Build and optimize dashboards for industrial analytics and big data visualization.
• Ensure API design consistency, integration reliability, and system robustness.
• Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks in large-scale web applications.
• Engineering Excellence
• Enforce clean coding standards and static code analysis practices.
• Define unit testing, integration testing, and automation strategies.
• Establish CI/CD best practices and release governance.
• Improve web performance, browser rendering efficiency, and real-time data responsiveness.
• Lead root cause analysis for production issues and system outages.
• Cloud & Infrastructure Collaboration
• Guide deployment strategies on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS EC2).
• Collaborate with DevOps on containerization (Docker), networking, and Ubuntu environments.
• Design secure and scalable communication for industrial data pipelines.
• Contribute to observability, logging, and monitoring strategies.
• Documentation & Governance
• Define technical roadmaps aligned with product strategy.
• Document architectural decisions, workflows, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with industrial standards and security requirements.
  
  

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

• 12–14+ years of experience in full-stack JavaScript development.
• Strong expertise in Typescript, Node.js, NestJS, React.js, Next.js, and WebSocket.
• Proven experience in architecting backend + frontend enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, Industrial IoT platforms, or real-time analytics dashboards.
• Strong understanding of data streaming, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
• Advanced knowledge of CSS, HTML, API design, and web performance optimization.
• Experience with static code analysis, test automation frameworks, and code quality governance.
• Strong debugging and performance profiling expertise.
• Docker-based deployments and container orchestration concepts.
• MQTT and industrial communication protocols.
  
  

Leadership Experience

• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or large technical initiatives.
• Experience conducting design reviews and architectural decision-making.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams.
  
  

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with AWS (EC2, networking, cloud architecture).
• CI/CD pipeline design and automation.
• MacOS and Ubuntu development environments.
• Exposure to high-availability and failover system design.
  
  

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
