Job Description: Senior Operations Engineer (4+ to 6 relevant years)

Position Overview

Fluence is seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineer to join our Bangalore office. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in networking, databases, communication protocols, and Python-based data handling. This role involves ensuring seamless operations, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance while collaborating across teams to support mission-critical applications in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor networking operations including IP Addressing and subnetting, Routing and VPN tunnel setup.
• Debug and optimize Python scripts for operational workflows.
• Perform basic file parsing, data transformation, and Pandas-based analysis to support operational insights.
• Design, maintain, and optimize SQL databases with emphasis on conceptual DB design, querying, MySQL operations, and read/write efficiency.
• Implement and maintain communication protocols including OPC, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC, ODBC, API, and FTP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and scalability.
• Document procedures, troubleshooting flows, root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives in Operational tools.
• Act as an L2 escalation point, identify and root cause the issues arising in the platform.
• Customer onboarding: Integrate new sites into the platform, Data mapping and establishing secure connection to cloud, KPI computations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics & Communications, Information Technology, or any related field.
  
  

Preferred Technical Skills

• Strong foundation in networking concepts (ping, routing, IP, VPN).
• Proficiency in Python debugging (compulsory) and experience with file parsing, Pandas, and data transformation.
• Solid understanding of MySQL databases (compulsory), including basic querying, and R/W operations.
• Hands-on experience with communication protocols (Advantage):
• ODBC
• OPC (UA and DA)
• MODBUS
• DNP3
• IEC
• FTP
• API’s
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge on Operational tools like Salesforce, Service now, Freshdesk.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in operations engineering or system engineering.
