Role Description
Detail-oriented and technically skilled FAST Configurator to join our life and annuity systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring and maintaining the FAST platform (Flexible Architecture for Secure Technologies), with a focus on insurance product builds, decision tables, calculations, and orchestration logic across various L&A (Life & Annuity) product lines.
This is a great opportunity for professionals with experience in insurance systems, especially those familiar with product configuration, XML, and rules-based processing within modern policy administration platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Configure insurance products using the FAST platforms Composer tools including Product Manager, Calculation Warehouse, and Orchestration Warehouse.
Build and maintain decision tables and calculations (Excel-based and decision-table based) for use in product logic.
Develop and manage orchestrations to control transaction workflows, looping logic, and event-driven processes.
Set up and manage fund configurations, pricing streams, interest rate tables, and model funds (fund-of-funds).
Work with business analysts to understand product requirements and translate them into configuration elements within the FAST system.
Support testing and validation efforts using configuration tools and XML inputs.
Collaborate with QA, developers, and business teams during system releases and enhancements.
Ensure reusability and governance of configuration components, following best practices.
Maintain documentation of configuration changes, version history, and deployment logs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
X years of experience configuring policy administration systems; FAST experience strongly preferred.
Hands-on Experience With
Decision Table creation and input/output mapping
Calculation configuration using Excel formulas, scalar/vector inputs, and UI interactions
Orchestration steps including Add Attribute, Add Calc Loop, IF/WHILE expressions
Fund setup and rate/unit value management
Understanding of insurance product features such as term, UL, annuities, riders, fees, surrender charges, and fund allocations.
Familiarity with XML structures, XPath expressions, and system integration points.
Ability to test configuration logic independently using built-in tools.
Knowledge of version control and config promotion process (Dev → QA → INT → Prod).
Excellent attention to detail and logical problem-solving skills.
