Overview of the Position

The Traction Inverter Hardware Engineer will design, develop, validate, and industrialize high-voltage traction inverter hardware for electric 3W/4W passenger and commercial vehicles. The role requires deep expertise in power semiconductor devices (IGBT/SiC MOSFET modules), gate driver circuits, current/voltage sensing, and high-voltage PCB design, along with strong exposure to motor control needs (PMSM/BLDC) and compliance with automotive standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

Traction Inverter Power Stage Design

  • Design and develop HV inverter power stages (300–800 V)

Gate Driver & Protection Circuit Design

Embedded Control & Low-Voltage Interface Hardware

Standards, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • ISO 26262 (ASIL-B/D hardware safety)
    • ISO 6469 (EV HV safety)
    • IEC/UL standards for HV insulation
  • Contribute to DFMEA, FMEDA, DVP&R, and safety work products
  • Perform EMC/EMI validation (CISPR 25, ISO 7637)
Testing, Validation & Debug

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent communication & documentation skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in EV programs
  • Leadership capability to guide junior engineers

Education Qualification

Bachelor’s Or Master’s Degree In

  • Power Electronics
  • Electrical / Electronics Engineering
  • Embedded Systems
  • Mechatronics

Experience

  • 5 – 7 years
  • Minimum 3+ years in EV traction inverter design

Essential Functional / Technical Competencies

Mandatory Skills

  • 5–7 years of experience in power electronics hardware design, out of which a minimum of 3+ years in EV traction inverter design
  • Strong knowledge of IGBT/SiC MOSFET modules, gate driver circuits, and high-power switching topologies
  • Experience in HV systems (300–800 V) and high current (100–500 A)
  • Knowledge of PMSM/BLDC motor fundamentals and inverter–motor interactions
  • Expertise in HV PCB design, insulation, creepage/clearance, EMI/EMC
  • Strong debugging experience at board and system level

Desired Functional / Technical Competencies

Competencies that are desired but not mandatory. These competencies will be an added advantage but not mandatory for hiring decision.

  • Knowledge of advanced modulation techniques (SVPWM, DPWM)
  • Familiarity with thermal simulation tools (Ansys)
  • Experience using simulation tools (LTspice, PSIM)
  • Understanding of inverter control firmware (STM, TI C2000)
  • Experience in automotive qualification (AEC-Q, PPAP, APQP)
