Sarla Aviation is at the forefront of revolutionizing urban air mobility with its cutting-edge eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) aircraft featuring innovative tilt-rotor technology. Sarla Aviation, a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, is dedicated to influencing the future of aviation. We are seeking a skilled and driven Propulsion Inverter Hardware Architect to join our expanding team and contribute to the success of our eVTOL program.
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Propulsion Inverter Hardware Architect to lead the design and development of high-performance three-phase motor controller hardware for electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) propulsion systems. This role requires deep expertise in power electronics, high-voltage systems, and aviation-grade safety standards to deliver reliable and efficient propulsion solutions for advanced air mobility.
Key Responsibilities
Define and architect hardware systems for three-phase motor controllers powering eVTOL propulsion units.
Select and validate power electronic components (SiC/GaN devices, IGBTs, MOSFETs, gate drivers, DC-link capacitors).
Design high-voltage, high-current circuits with robust protection features for aviation applications.
Ensure compliance with aviation safety standards (DO-254, DO-160), EMI/EMC requirements, and thermal management strategies.
Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and propulsion teams for seamless system integration.
Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and reliability analysis for flight-critical systems.
Guide PCB layout design for optimal performance, weight reduction, and manufacturability.
Support prototype development, testing, and certification processes.
Prepare architecture documentation, design guidelines, and technical reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience in power electronics hardware design and architecture.
Expertise in three-phase motor control systems (BLDC, PMSM) for high voltage high-power applications.
Strong knowledge of aviation-grade safety standards and functional safety (DO-254, ISO 26262).
Proficiency in circuit design and simulation tools (Altium, OrCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice).
Familiarity with high-voltage isolation techniques, EMI/EMC compliance, and thermal management.
Experience with SiC/GaN-based power devices for lightweight, high-efficiency designs.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aerospace or eVTOL propulsion systems.
Knowledge of certification processes for aviation hardware.
Familiarity with battery management systems and high-voltage energy storage.
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years in power electronics and motor controller hardware architecture, preferably in aerospace or automotive.
