We are looking for a People Analytics Analyst to support the employee data lifecycle—from extraction and cleanup to descriptive and visualized reporting—helping leaders understand and improve the organizational health and employee experience at Smartsheet. This role is responsible for executing analysis that helps the team utilize data insights to optimize talent programs and business results, including using findings generated by AI.

You will be an important part of our People & Culture team and will report to our Program Director.

You Will

  • Design, develop, and maintain foundational descriptive reports and dashboards (e.g., headcount, turnover) using Workday Reporting, including required compliance reporting using Excel.
  • Maintain and improve Workday self-service reporting, and create specialized Workday reports and dashboards.
  • Support the design and reporting of core organizational health KPIs (e.g., retention) across People systems.
  • Administer employee surveys (onboarding, exit, engagement) and summarize key results/trends for leaders.
  • In partnership with stakeholders, perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover root causes and hidden signals in employee behavior, including interpreting AI/ML insights.
  • Provide foundational guidance to leaders on interpreting data and identifying core trends.
  • Prepare visual data and insights for executive, functional, and P&C leaders.
  • Assist with data/insights for regular reports, including pay gap analyses.

You Have

  • Required: Strong background in configuring reports and dashboards as well as an understanding of data structures in Workday. Preferred: Familiarity with ATS (Gem, Greenhouse).
  • Foundational understanding of HR functions (Compensation, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition) and People Analytics application. Highly preferred: Experience connecting People data to business metrics and identifying opportunities.
  • Understanding of data privacy, compliance, and ethical handling of people data.
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization and dashboarding (e.g., Tableau), using visuals to communicate complex insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to present analysis to leaders, translating technical results into actionable business language.
  • Required: Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel for data cleaning, manipulation, and descriptive statistics.
  • Preferred: AI/ML Platform experience for data insight generation.
  • 2+ years in an analytical role (e.g., Data Analyst, Business Intelligence) using data to drive decisions.
