Role Summary
The Accounting Lead / Manager is responsible for managing day‑to‑day staffing and work allocation for BPO staff accountants, performing first‑level review of workpapers, providing accounting guidance, resolving escalations, and ensuring on‑time, high‑quality financial close deliverables across areas including revenue, operating expenses & accruals, payroll, fixed assets, leases, capitalized software, debt, cash, lending activities, derivatives, digital asset inventory and investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee month‑end and quarter‑end close activities across assigned accounting areas.
- Allocate workload and monitor progress against the work plan, tracking completion and team productivity.
- Perform first‑level review of journal entries, reconciliations and BPO staff workpapers.
- Prepare, review and post journal entries and ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct financial variance analysis and data analytics to support accounting conclusions.
- Respond to stakeholder questions (FP&A, internal audit, accounting partners) and build/maintain stakeholder relationships for data inputs.
- Support audit requests and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Triage and escalate complex accounting issues and coordinate with other teams to resolve transactions.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to documentation of desktop procedures and controls.
- Manage team performance, provide coaching, and address staffing or performance issues.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or related controllership roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SOX controls and experience supporting SOX/internal control processes.
- Prior exposure to intercompany, project accounting, and complex transaction types.
- Proven supervisory/team leadership experience, including workload management and performance oversight.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Regular collaboration with corporate controllership, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Legal and other cross‑functional teams.
- Fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment focused on accuracy, timely close support and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, automation initiatives and quality‑control frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP and RTR/reporting tools (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, BlackLine, Trintech) and familiarity with documenting desktop procedures.
- CPA or Chartered Accountant designation.
- Experience with digital asset accounting, investments, derivatives, lending activities, customer/operating cash and capitalized software accounting.
