Project Brief:
The Public health foundation of India is implementing a project “ Meeting the Challenge of Urban PHC Systems in India – A Learning Sites Approach”. This research project is funded by University college of London and will be carried out in close collaboration with PHFI and IIT Kanpur across three learning sites: Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Kanpur. The proposed multi-centric research aims to systematically examine the challenges and gaps in urban primary healthcare systems. The study will employ rigorous quantitative and qualitative research methods, including primary data collection, secondary data review, and comprehensive stakeholder consultations. The project seeks to actively engage with the State Government, Urban Local Bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to better understand context-specific issues at each site. This study aims to generate evidence and policy recommendations to strengthen and improve urban primary healthcare systems in India.
Deliverables:
The position will perform the following tasks:
Development template to collect primary household data related to health care access and utilisation at the primary care level using Epi Info platform.
Prepare Field-test questionnaire and Provide training to Data Collection and Entry Site personnel.
Data quality check and Data frame generation and Data synchronization
Analyse households’ data and write report.
Make extensive literature review on studies related to urban primary care systems
Develop framework for collecting public expenditure data related to urban primary care
Help design framework for analysis of both primary and secondary data related to urban primary care.
Support the core team in developing report based on analysis of secondary and primary data
Consult with state government officials and other stakeholders time to time and document the process
The position will be based in Bhubaneswar or Bangalore but required to travel within the state and other two sites of the project.
Coordination with Government health officials, urban local bodies and local civil society organizations working on urban health.
Conduction and organising meeting with partner and other stake holder.
Collect and analyse primary household data.
Collect and analyse secondary health system data.
Collect and analyse research evidence related to urban health.
Any other activities as required by the project.
Qualification:
Essential:
At least Post-Graduate Degree in Public health/ Development studies/ Economics / Health Economics/ Public policy/ Preference will be given to M.Phil./ Ph.D. holders.
PhD study period will be considered as research experience for those who have submitted or completed degrees.
Desirable:
Candidates with PhDs and research experience in health systems will be preferred.
Candidate with strong quantitative data analysis skill will be preferred.
Experience:
Essential:
Candidates with 2-3 years of experience working in health systems especially with the public health systems or health system research will be preferred.
Experience and expertise in managing primary data and large-scale secondary data using STATA or any other statistical data management software tool would be preferred.
Candidates with strong writing and presentation skills are preferred
Desirable:
Ability to work with the team. Managing multisite data
