The Capture Planning Lead supports the effective planning and performance tracking of Win Work activities across UK & Ireland Transportation and other relevant divisions. This role plays a key part in enabling data‑driven decision‑making during early‑stage capture and pursuit activities by producing high‑quality reporting, maintaining accurate CRM data, and supporting system and process improvements.
Working closely with divisional and market Win Work contacts, the Capture Planning Lead analyses, presents, and maintains critical capture and win work data, helping to ensure opportunities are well‑tracked, insights are clearly communicated, and data quality standards are consistently applied.
Your role
Responsibilities
To lead and coordinate the capture planning phase for Transportation UK opportunities, ensuring that bids are strategically positioned, intelligence‑led, and aligned to client drivers, prior to formal PSQ / ITT release.
The Bid Manager supports and enables capture, translating strategy into an actionable plan, but does not own client relationships or final commercial decisions.
Capture Planning Leadership & Coordination
Lead the capture planning process in line with AtkinsRéalis Win Work governance and stage‑gate requirements
Support Bid / No‑Bid (Stage Gate 0) decisions by coordinating inputs and evidence
Set up and manage the Capture Plan workspace (SharePoint / Teams / CRM links)
Coordinate and chair capture planning workshops with Transportation leadership, delivery, and commercial teams
Maintain the capture plan document and action log, ensuring it remains current and actionable
Client & Market Intelligence (Transportation UK)
Coordinate client analysis including:
Client priorities, policies, investment drivers, and pain points
Procurement route, framework strategy, and likely evaluation criteria
Support market and competitor analysis (Black Review inputs), including:
Known competitors and incumbents
Strengths, weaknesses, and likely positioning
Capture and structure intelligence gathered from:
Client engagement sessions
Market briefings and Transportation leadership
Win Strategy & Differentiation Support
Support development of the win strategy, ensuring it is:
Evidence‑based
Aligned to Transportation UK priorities
Differentiated and defensible
Coordinate win strategy reviews (e.g. Blue Team / strategy reviews)
Translate strategy into:
Clear win themes
Early solution positioning
High‑level delivery and resourcing assumptions
Stakeholder & Workstream Management
Identify and coordinate capture workstreams, including:
Technical delivery leads
Commercial and pricing support
Framework and PMO specialists
Social Value and sustainability contributors
Define roles, responsibilities, and timelines for capture activities
Act as the central coordination point between:
Transportation Market Leads
Capture Leads
Win Work / GTC support teams
Proactively chase actions and manage dependencies
Capture Governance & Readiness
Ensure capture planning outputs are fit for progression into PSQ / ITT
Support preparation for:
Gate reviews
Internal approvals
Early mobilisation planning
Ensure alignment between:
Capture plan
Opportunity record (CRM)
Bid resource plan
Flag risks, gaps, and assumptions early to leadership
Transition from Capture to Bid Phase
Support the handover from capture to formal bid management, including:
Briefing the Proposal / Bid Team
Translating capture outputs into answer plans
Ensuring continuity of win themes and strategy
Support early bid mobilisation:
Kick‑off meeting preparation
Draft proposal management plans
Initial content planning
What This Role Does NOT Do (Important for JD Clarity)
The Bid Manager does not
Own client relationships or commercial negotiations
Act as the Capture Lead or Market Lead
Approve Bid / No‑Bid decisions
Set final pricing or contractual positions
Replace delivery or technical leadership
About You
Skills & Experience (Typical)
Proven experience in bid management or capture support in UK infrastructure or transportation markets
Understanding of UK public‑sector procurement, including frameworks and competitive tenders
Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills
Ability to structure complex information into clear capture outputs
Experience working with CRM systems, SharePoint, and MS Office tools
