A Hospital Receptionist is a crucial link between patients and the medical staff, often representing the first point of contact for visitors. Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors warmly as the first point of contact.
  • Manage the flow of patients in the reception area efficiently and effectively.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar accurately.
  • Answer incoming calls, addressing inquiries or transferring calls to proper departments.
  • Maintain and update patient records while ensuring confidentiality is protected.
  • Direct visitors and patients to different parts of the hospital as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating emergency protocols during critical situations in the hospital.
  • Handle patient registration processes and ensure all details are complete and correct.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure seamless communication and scheduling.
  • Collect and process necessary documentation and patient insurance details.
  • Monitor the reception area's tidiness and reorganize supplies as required.
  • Provide information to patients about hospital procedures, policies, and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional healthcare certification is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist role, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Friendly, compassionate, and patient-centric approach to customer service duties.
  • Proficient in using office management software and healthcare information systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital processes is highly beneficial.
