Job Description

Job Summary

Pluckk is hiring a Shift Executive to run on-the-floor operations at our Bangalore Distribution Center during their assigned shift. The role is fully hands-on — you will be the single point of accountability for everything that happens on the floor during your shift, from inbound receiving and quality checks of fresh produce to picking, packing, dispatch, and rider handoff. You will lead a team of floor associates, supervisors, and pickers, and ensure orders move out on time, accurately, and at the right quality. This role suits someone who enjoys being on the floor, solves problems in real time, and can hold a team to high operating standards.

Key Responsibilities

Shift ownership & floor operations

  • Own the entire floor during your shift — inbound, QC, storage, picking, packing, staging, and dispatch.
  • Run shift start-up huddles: brief the team on order volumes, SKU priorities, manpower allocation, and SLA targets.
  • Track real-time progress against picking and dispatch cut-offs; intervene early when slots are at risk of breach.
  • Conduct shift handover with the incoming Shift Manager — open issues, pending orders, manpower gaps, inventory alerts.

Inbound & quality

  • Oversee receiving of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other SKUs — verify quantities, check temperature logs, and ensure QC norms are followed.
  • Ensure rejected / damaged stock is segregated, logged, and processed per SOP.
  • Maintain cold-chain and storage discipline across chillers, ambient, and staging zones.

Picking, packing & dispatch

  • Drive on-time picking and packing as per slot-wise order release.
  • Ensure picking accuracy, packing quality (no leakage, correct labeling, hygiene), and order completeness.
  • Coordinate with the last-mile team for timely rider arrival, smooth handoff, and zero pickup delays.

People & team management

  • Manage a shift team of floor associates, pickers, packers, and supervisors (typically 20–30).
  • Plan manpower deployment basis order forecast; manage absenteeism and reallocate on the fly.
  • Drive productivity metrics — lines/hour, orders/picker, packing TAT.
  • Coach and counsel associates; escalate disciplinary issues per HR norms.

Inventory & shrinkage control

  • Ensure cycle counts and shift-end stock checks are completed.
  • Monitor and control shrinkage, wastage, and pilferage — especially critical for perishables.
  • Flag inventory mismatches, expiry issues, and slow-moving stock to the DC Manager / Category team.

Hygiene, safety & compliance

  • Enforce hygiene SOPs (FSSAI norms, personal hygiene, sanitisation schedules) on the floor.
  • Ensure safety standards — PPE usage, safe material handling, equipment checks.
  • Maintain floor 5S discipline through the shift.

Reporting & escalations

  • Publish shift-end reports: order volumes, OTD %, picking/packing productivity, QC rejections, wastage, manpower utilisation.
  • Escalate critical issues (stockouts, system downtime, rider shortage, quality failures) in real time to leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience

  • 3–6 years of warehouse / fulfillment center floor operations experience, with at least 1–2 years in a shift-lead or supervisor role.
  • Background in quick commerce, e-commerce, grocery, food delivery, or D2C fulfillment (Zepto, Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Licious, Country Delight, Amazon, Flipkart, or similar).
  • Experience handling fresh / perishable categories and cold-chain operations is a strong plus.

Skills

  • Strong floor presence — comfortable being on your feet through the shift and leading from the front.
  • Hands-on experience with WMS / OMS platforms and basic Excel / Google Sheets.
  • Ability to manage and motivate blue-collar teams; firm but fair people management style.
  • Sharp problem-solving in real time — can make quick calls when things go wrong (system down, manpower short, vehicle delayed).
  • Working knowledge of FSSAI norms, hygiene SOPs, and safety standards.
  • Comfortable with rotational shifts, weekends, and early-morning / late-night operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in any discipline; diploma or degree in Supply Chain / Logistics / Operations is a plus.
  • Fluency in Kannada and Hindi (essential for floor team communication in Bangalore); working English for reporting.
