The team
ASICs Markets Group is responsible for ensuring confidence and integrity across Australias financial markets and broader financial system. The Group regulates market participants and infrastructure and delivers supervision, licensing and regulatory reform to support market integrity, transparency and resilience.
The Strategic Initiatives team leads cross‑cutting work across the Markets Group, focusing on emerging risks and structural change affecting markets, coordinating high‑priority initiatives (such as digital assets reforms), and driving alignment and impact across ASIC.
The role
As a Senior Analyst, you will be accountable for delivering strategic initiatives and regulatory reform work across Markets Group.
You Will Be Accountable For
- Leading and contributing to strategic policy, supervision and regulatory reform initiatives across Markets Groups remit within the Australian financial markets system.
- With a focus on market structure in financial markets, undertake research and policy analysis to assess the efficiency, competitive landscape and resilience of Australias markets.
- Managing complex projects and workstreams, identifying key dependencies, risks, issues and opportunities to maximise regulatory impact.
- Developing and delivering policy, implementation and law reform advice in response to emerging and evolving regulatory and market issues.
- Working collaboratively across ASIC to support coordinated delivery of interconnected initiatives.
- Providing judgement and input on high‑priority regulatory matters in consultation with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
About You
You bring strong experience delivering regulatory reform, policy implementation, supervision or licensing work within complex environments. You have sound knowledge of the Australian financial markets system and demonstrate genuine curiosity about emerging issues, market developments and new areas of regulatory focus. You seek to understand how issues connect across the system, are comfortable exploring new problems, testing assumptions and developing practical responses, and can manage multiple priorities while applying critical analysis and judgement. Strong project management capability and experience contributing to strategic initiatives are essential.
You work effectively both independently and collaboratively, maintain a clear focus on delivery and progress, engage constructively on complex or contested matters, and contribute clear, well‑reasoned advice. You build credibility through sound judgement, curiosity, collaboration and consistent delivery.
