President  – API Business

1. Role Purpose

To provide strategic and operational leadership for the API manufacturing cluster, ensuring safe, compliant, reliable, cost-effective, and profitable operations across multiple manufacturing sites.

The role will be accountable for overall business performance, manufacturing excellence, quality and regulatory compliance, EHS, supply reliability, cost optimization, people leadership, capacity utilization, and long-term growth of the API business.

The incumbent will act as the overall leader of the API cluster, aligning all sites and functions with the organizations business strategy and driving a culture of operational excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic & Business Leadership

• Develop and execute the overall operational strategy for the API cluster in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Provide strategic direction to multiple API manufacturing sites and ensure alignment of site-level business plans.
• Drive business growth through capacity expansion, productivity improvement, product mix optimization, and operational excellence.
• Evaluate opportunities for new products, technologies, capacity enhancement, debottlenecking, and manufacturing partnerships.
• Establish annual operating plans, budgets, productivity targets, and strategic priorities for the cluster.
• Present business performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives to the Executive Management.

B. Manufacturing & Operational Excellence

• Provide overall leadership for production, manufacturing planning, engineering, utilities, maintenance, warehouse, and related operations.
• Ensure achievement of production plans, delivery commitments, yield, productivity, and asset-utilization targets.
• Drive OEE improvement, batch cycle-time reduction, yield improvement, process optimization, and capacity utilization.
• Establish common operating standards and best practices across all API sites.
• Lead initiatives for debottlenecking, automation, digitization, and manufacturing excellence.
• Ensure effective utilization of manpower, equipment, utilities, and manufacturing assets.
• Drive reduction of operational losses, downtime, rejection, reprocessing, and material wastage.

C. Quality & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure that all manufacturing operations operate in accordance with GMP, regulatory requirements, internal quality systems, and applicable statutory requirements.
• Partner with Quality leadership to maintain a strong compliance culture across all sites.
• Ensure timely closure of deviations, CAPA, change controls, audit observations, and regulatory commitments.
• Drive inspection readiness and ensure sustained compliance across manufacturing locations.
• Promote a quality-by-design and right-first-time manufacturing culture.
• Ensure quality risks are proactively identified and addressed at the cluster level.

D. EHS & Process Safety

• Establish and reinforce a Zero Harm culture across the API cluster.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, process safety, environmental, fire, chemical handling, and statutory requirements.
• Review critical safety indicators, incidents, near misses, process safety risks, and corrective actions.
• Ensure implementation of robust emergency preparedness and business continuity systems.
• Hold site leadership accountable for safety performance.

E. Financial & Cost Leadership

• Own and drive the operational cost agenda for the API cluster.
• Lead initiatives for cost optimization, manpower productivity, energy efficiency, solvent recovery, utility optimization, procurement efficiencies, and waste reduction.
• Ensure manufacturing costs remain competitive against internal and external benchmarks.
• Drive annual productivity and cost-saving targets.
• Review CAPEX proposals and ensure appropriate ROI and strategic alignment.
