The Marine HR Graduate Trainee Program is a structured 6-month program designed to build a pipeline of well-rounded Marine HR and crewing professionals. Trainees will gain hands-on exposure across seafarer documentation, flag state licensing, crew travel coordination and seafarer welfare, working under the guidance of an assigned manager or mentor.
This program is ideal for recent graduates who want to understand how seafarers are documented, deployed and supported end-to-end and who are keen to build a career at the intersection of people management and maritime operations.
Program Structure
Structured Assignments: Trainees are placed in structured assignments across key crewing and vessel support processes within Marine HR.
Mentorship: Each trainee is paired with an assigned Program Manager/mentor who provides day-to-day guidance and supervision.
Learning & Development: Structured training on crewing fundamentals, seafarer documentation and flag state requirements, crewing/HR systems, and soft skills (communication, stakeholder coordination, and process thinking).
Business Exposure: Trainees gain insight into end-to-end Marine HR operations, stakeholder interactions, and crewing processes, developing a broader understanding of how the function supports business and vessel operations.
What Youll Gain Exposure To:
Seafarer Documentation & Compliance - supports the verification and administration of mandatory seafarer documents, certifications, licenses, and regulatory requirements. Trainees will gain exposure to document validation, record maintenance, and the preparation of seafarer-related documentation.
Crew Travel & Vessel Coordination - supports crew changes and coordination activities to ensure the timely deployment and movement of seafarers. Trainees will gain exposure to travel and documentation coordination, stakeholder communication, and vessel mail dispatch administration.
Seafarer Welfare & Engagement - supports initiatives that promote seafarer wellbeing and strengthen engagement with seafarers and their families. Trainees will gain exposure to communication and engagement activities, welfare support initiatives, and family outreach programs.
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Maritime Studies, Business Administration or a related field from a recognised institution. Additional courses in AI, ML or Data Analytics are an asset.
Documentation & Digital Skills: Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office or equivalent), comfortable organizing records and working with digital filing systems and internal business applications, with a strong process and AI orientation.
Attention to Detail & Problem Solving: Accurate and thorough with seafarer records, certificates and licenses, with good analytical and problem-solving ability and the capacity to manage multiple follow-ups and deadlines.
Communication & Professional Conduct: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive attitude, openness to feedback, eagerness to learn maritime HR operations, and respect for confidentiality, data protection and company policies.
