• Purpose of Role

  To ensure that all repair jobs executed at vendor locations comply with approved repair procedures, engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements through continuous inspection, process control, and timely intervention.

  Key Responsibilities

  1. Vendor Inspection

  • Conduct regular visits to vendor facilities to monitor repair activities.
  • Verify adherence to approved repair scope, drawings, specifications, and repair procedures.
  • Carry out stage-wise inspections and release critical operations.
  • Ensure repair quality is maintained throughout the repair cycle.
  • Identify deviations and recommend corrective actions on priority.

  2. Repair Assessment & Scope Validation

  • Participate in strip-down and damage assessment activities.
  • Verify inspection findings before repair commencement.
  • Review vendor repair methodology and technical feasibility.
  • Validate repair scope against customer requirements and ARF standards.

  3. Welding & Rebuild Inspection

  • Monitor welding, rebuilding, cladding, metal spray, and fabrication activities.
  • Ensure compliance with approved WPS/PQR requirements.
  • Verify welder qualifications and process adherence.
  • Review preheat, interpass temperature, consumable control, and heat treatment records.

  4. Dimensional & NDT Inspection

  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Review critical fits, tolerances, alignments, and assembly dimensions.
  • Coordinate and witness NDT activities:
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • Hardness Testing

  5. Quality Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain:
  • Stage Inspection Reports (SIR)
  • After Repair Inspection Reports (ARIR)
  • New Part Inspection Reports (NPIR)
  • Deviation Reports
  • Dimensional Inspection Reports
  • NDT Reports

   

  6. Final Inspection & Dispatch Clearance

  • Conduct final quality inspection before dispatch from vendor premises.
  • Verify completion of repair scope and closure of all punch points.
  • Ensure all inspection documents and test reports are available before dispatch.
  • Recommend dispatch clearance only after successful quality verification.

  7. Vendor Quality Management

  • Evaluate vendor quality performance on:
  • Rework levels
  • Complaint frequency
  • On-time completion
  • Documentation compliance
  • Conduct periodic vendor audits and capability assessments.
  • Drive vendor development initiatives to improve repair quality and turnaround time.

  8. Customer Complaint & Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate repair failures and warranty claims.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support continuous improvement projects to reduce field failures.

  Educational Qualification

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

  Experience

  • 5-8 years in QA/QC, heavy engineering, mining equipment, crusher components, slurry pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, or repair facilities.
  • Hands-on experience in vendor development and vendor quality assurance.

  Special Requirement for ARF

  • Willingness to travel extensively to vendor locations.
  • Ability to take real-time quality decisions in breakdown repair cases where repair turnaround time is critical.
  • Strong coordination skills with vendors, sourcing, engineering, and ARF operations teams to ensure zero quality escape and minimum repair lead time.

  This version is more aligned with ARFs outsourced repair model, where the engineer acts as a vendor quality gatekeeper, ensuring quality, reducing rework, and accelerating repair turnaround time.
