Position Summary

Leads ‘Supply Chain Function’ to develop and deploy appropriate Supply Chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost with highest quality level and on time deliveries. Understands all commodities and drives the team with short term and long-term strategies.

Leads and drives procurement activities of whole function to meet Company’s Operating System criteria and Business requirements. He / She coordinates and supports overall functional activities including Supplier Strategy, RFP/ RFQ, Price & Contract Negotiations, Purchase Ordering & Expediting, Inventory Strategy and Management, Supplier Relationship, Supplier Performance Management, Logistics – inbound and outbound, Import / Export of materials / products, Owning Supplier RCCA for any Quality issues.

Principal Activities

• Developing a strong SCM Team through continuous Coaching, Mentoring and Guidance.
• Leads the supply chain, purchasing and logistics teams in executing best practices in the function to increase efficiency.
• Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to purchase of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
• Accountable for negotiations for best possible cost and service guarantee and develop “win-win” strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers, freight frwarders and logistic service providers.
• Collaborates with global strategic sourcing team on supply chain & commodity strategies and metrics.
• Achieving year on year material productivity & SCM & Logistics functions’ set targets.
• Foster Teamwork and provide expert consultation and collaborate with goals alignment across platforms and functions with an enterprise mindset.
• Supplier Capacity Review, Weekly Open Order Review, identify bottlenecks and resolve the same in advance to achieve supplier on time delivery > 95% and other performance metrics.
• Develop and implement inventory strategies for managing positive cash flow and ensuring optimum production.
• Drive inventory reduction initiatives and establish Vendor Managed Inventory models to achieve Inventory Turnover Ratio of 6 and above.
• Understand and develop strategy for Core - Noncore components.
• Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other dpartments.
• Supplier Consolidations and Alternate Supplier development as required.
• Thorough understanding of SCM Techniques and Tools e.g., Kanban, Min-Max, ABC Analysis etc.
• Helps developing a strong Kaizen Culture within the team for continuous Improvements and Growth.
• Supporting application engineering & sales team on customer pre-bid and bidding activities by providing bought out items offers timely.
• Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.
• Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
• Develop and maintain tools to track Market Level Prices for high impact purchases.
• MIS reporting Daily/Weekly/Monthly and as needed.

• Knowledge of Supplier Market & Commodities like: Castings, Bar stock, Motor, Seals & various Commodities.
• Good understanding about the pricing, contracts, and negotiation strategy.
• Good in developing and improving supplier relationships.
• Thorough Understanding and knowledge of Import & Export logistics, regulations, and challenges.
• MIS reporting: Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory Turns.
• Well versed with the complete SCM cycle from Bid Stage to sorting out Warranty issues, if any.
• Abilities to understand Company Strategy, Growth Initiatives and building right Alignment.
• Skill sets and Knowledge to participate and contribute in Annual Budgeting (Annual operating Plan), 5 years Strategic Plans and Monthly Plans using Tools like SIOP, VMI etc.
• Good Understanding of the Financials and Accounting Practices, especially those that are related to SCM and Logistics functions.
• Good Understanding about Project Management Aspects.
• Good understanding about Lean principles & Continuous improvement tools.
• Excellent verbal & written Communication.
• Good in data analytics & Problem Solving.
• Ability to handle challenging situations.
  
  

• Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering from Reputed College/Institutes.
• Any additional certifications like CPM / on Materials Management / Supply chain Management will be an advantage.
• Minimum 15-18 years of experience in Supply Chain and Logistics.
• Experience of using SAP would be preferred.
